Scopey 10K Celebrations in deepest Croydonia. Thanks to Mr 10K. Very hazy gold - orange beer, a few pale cream colour bubbles. Palate is light and mildly crisp. Good lemon - orange, ripe. A modicum of sourness. Mild sherbet. Light finish. Pleasantly mild.

Bottle shared during Scopey’s 10k tasting - many thanks to Scopey himself for this one! Pours unclear gold with a creamy white head. The aroma holds musty wood, damp grass, old lemons. Light-medium sweet flavor with assertive citric lemon bite, grass, drying wood. Medium bodied with spritzy carbonation. Somewhat sharp on the finish, lots of citric bite, hints of metal, tangerine peel, light funk, bitter grass. Quite nice overall.

Bottle for my 10,000 rate! After wrestling with the cork it pours hazy deep orange with a thick, foamy white head. The nose is rich, funky, musty, damp wood, wet leaves, stewed orange, mouldy peach, apple cider, light dust, sweet vanilla, Bakewell tart and earth. The taste is big bracing acidity upfront, white wine vinegar, cider vinegar, funk, sour apricot, peach, yellow grapefruit, tart granny smith apple, light vanilla in the background, marzipan, earth and wood with a dry, woody finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Condition has really held up. A bit too much acidity if truth be told, but it was fun to drink nonetheless!

Bottle split at Scopey 10K, massive thanks to Paulo for this - the 10K beer, 26/11/15. Golden orange with a well appointed off white covering that retains well. Nose is funky, wood must, horse blanket, sharp lemon, hint of lime, apple vinegar. Taste comprises sweet and sour notes, light spice, vinegar tones, funky, rising acidity, bitter lemon, tarte apple orchard. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with rising acidity leading to a moderate throat scrape. Great to try, seemed sweet in places but overall quite an acidic beast.

Tasted many years ago from tap. Deep hazy copper coloured beer with thin head and very estery-fruity flavour, in which honeyish and lots of fruity sweetness, citrussy acidity and lactic acid blend together nicely; sweet-sourish finish, drying and refreshing. Typical old school regional beer rooted in lambic culture, too bad it isn’t made anymore today; the Duivelsbier that succeeded it, is a totally different product.

[10/8/13] Bottle at Bier Circus in Brussels. 1993 bottle, best before 12/00. Deep red color with a pinkish head. Lovely cherries aroma with some sourness, some oak and a touch of funk. Sweetish and sour flavor full of cherries, a bit of oak, a bit of funky notes and a dry and sour finish with light lemony hints. Medium-bodied, lively carbonation. Delicious even after all these years.

1992 bottle at DHVL. It pours clear red-amber with a thick white head. The nose is cherry, strawberry, candy, candyfloss and jam. The taste is smooth, tart cherry, strawberry, sour green apple, lemon, sherbet, mild acidity and damp wood with a dry, tart finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Nice sweet-sour balance. Has aged rather gracefully indeed!

Bottled (1986 vintage)@Belgobaren, Stockholm (old backlog from about 2010). Red colour with a small pinkish head. Aroma is acidic wooden and fruity notes along with some slight sourness and raspberries. Flavour is acidic berries, some mild tart and sourness as well as mild wooden notes. A bit too acidic for my taste, but that’s always a risk when buying oldies...

Old bottle at Akkurat. Almost clear, red/brown liquid with medium light brown head. Aroma of raw sugar, vinegar, some alcohol, toffee and port/cardboard oxidization. Not too enjoyable. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar, vinegar, dark fruit, cardboard, toffee and port wine. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Not in particularly good shape.
