On tap at Twa Dogs, pours a clear dark amber / burgundy with a small beige head. Nose brings out caramel malt, bready notes, and a bit of hop resins. Flavour is sickly sweet, with both a sickly sweet caramel malt character and an astringently bitter resinous hop character in terrible balance with one another. Almost medicinally sweet, with jagged hops. Pretty much a textbook example of how not to brew a barley wine. Poor.

On tap at Twa Dogs, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Nose is earthy and rough, with citrus hops, some resins, and earthy hops. Flavour is much the same, with chewy resinous hops, earthy hops, and sweet caramel malt. The hop expression isn't bad, but it does seem a bit rough. The balance is a bit jagged but generally OK. Solid attempt.

On tap at Twa Dogs, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is bitter and floral in the hop department, with crisp biscuity malt. Flavour has a pronounced floral bitterness to it upfront, with medium-high astringency, and a crisp biscuity malt backbone. The balance isn't the best, but I do like the high bitterness. Solid.

On tap at Twa Dogs, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Nose is full of lacto and some tart stone fruit. Flavour is tart, with lots of yogurty lacto, tart citrus, a touch of stone fruit, and light acidity. Yogurty palate, and decently tart, but little depth. Not too great.

650 ml bottle. Pours a clear deep mahogany color with moderate head. Aromas of orange peel, resin, dry toffee, and bready malts. Flavors follow same with additional bitter piney hops. Reminds me of Old Cellar Dweller before it was a triple IPA. Ready to drink. Very nice.

Pale amber and a bit hazy. The aroma is chewy, sorta cheesy old hops and too much crystal malt, even though it doesn’t look like that would be the case. Moderate bitterness, and thankfully on the palate the malts bring a decent biscuity note to go along with all that chewy stuff. I could see this being a nice cask ale, but comes across so assertively chewy it’s tough to work through. Dated recipe, served fresh.

Clear gold with a decent white head. Artificial strawberry. Soured cream and strawberry. Lime is not there which could have saved it.

Deep dark brown with a small white head. Light smoked malts and cocoa. Light and easy but some sweet cocoa notes.
