Description
Crafting mixed culture ale in the beautiful Pacific Northwest
Founded by partners in life and work, Charles Porter and Brenda Crow, Little Beast is a family brewery with a passion for making great beer and sharing it with others.
We craft wild, wood-aged and blended beer naturally with diverse cultures, including Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus, and wild flora. By harnessing the little beasts that ferment our beer, we capture their untamed beauty and produce farmhouse beers that are diverse in flavor and rare in character.
Admin Note: Beer Garden/Tap Room in Portland, production in Clakamas, OR.

Nice biscuity crispy, hop bitter and spice hinted finish that lingers in a great way.

On tap at Chuck's Hop Shop - Greenwood, pours a clear mahogany with a small beige head. Nose brings out toasted nuts, roasted caramel, and bready malt. Flavour is sweet and nutty, with roasted caramel, toasted chestnuts, and bready malt. That toasted chestnut character is unusual but works okay. Pleasant.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Hazy blond colour. The aroma is dank and vegetable, light manure. The mouthfeel is very dry; not getting particular vibes from the malt or hops, just prominent herbaceous bitterness.
Mediocre.

Crisp and ever-so-slightly hazy golden coloured body with a crisp white glow, about two centimetres tall that fades fairly quicly and barely leaves anything up top, after just a few seconds. Aroma of passionfruit, guava, brett, lactobilly notes, a dash of oak and woodsie elements, but the fruit and tart scents are by far the strongest, with a hint of biscuity and wheatie malts noticeable towards the end of the nose. Light-bodied; Slightly bready and doughy profile at first with a lot of tart and soured passionfruit and guava elements right away with a dry and woodsie oaky kick that shows the barrel aging and a touch of lemons towards the end, but a fairly good balance of malts, dryness and of course the tart and soured flavours, with a slight briney kick as well - all very nice and balanced nicely. Aftertaste shows the grassy and dry notes at first with a little bit of the yeastie and doughy qualities a bit more than I expected with a lighter fruit bite, but more of the tart and purely sour flavours at the end. Overall, a nice and robust, but super easy-drinking, mild and light beer that hits nicely throughout, especially with the dry, grassy and tropically fruit notes with a light dose of sugars, but nice across the board. I'm glad I brought this one back from Oregon and would be well worthwhile for most people to have this one if available. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Whole Foods in Portland (Pearl District), Oregon on 27-March-2021 for US$4,49 sampled at my house here in Washington on 21-October-2021.

Hazy, pale. Head froths up and dies down quickly. Tart, with stone fruit notes, light citrus. A bit heavy but otherwise a refreshing example.
