Mild chocolate aroma. Sweetish flavor, some cheap vanilla chocolate, maybe traces of salsaparilla later.
Not too bad, but it’s not my thing.

Draught at the brewery; 8.1% ABV
Hazy amber color, compact head. Nice IIPA , not too sweet, bold; the malt flavor is a bit caramelly and chewy; the hops provide a strong resiny and orangey character.
Nice.

Brown color. Dark malts, roasty, with a light fruity touch, and some residual sweetness.
It has a bit more character and roastiness than the dark Ale.

Cloudy golden color. Dry Ale, strong bitterness, the hops are quite resiny, but I sense also some diacetyl.

Jet black color with compact brownish head. A bit of cardboard aroma, but the mouthfeel is very robust,, mix of roasted malts and chocolate, moderately sweet not too bitter.
Very nice.

Brown color. Strangely it has a light red wine aroma; the Ale is not too dark, not too roasty, and it has some residual sweetness, hence it’s quite appreciated.

On tap at Counterbalance, pours a deep dark rusted red with a small beige head. Aroma smells more like whiskey barrels than the advertised red wine barrels, followed by bready caramel malt. Flavour is quite harsh, with notes of whiskey, bready malts and a harsh bitter hoppy astringency. Not sure this benefited from the barrel aging. This is quite harsh and astringent. I prefer the base beer.

On tap at Counterbalance, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out woody oak, but it smells more like whiskey than red wine, with subtler notes of biscuity malt and dry hopping. Flavour is very dry, with notes of subtle wood and bone dry biscuity malt. Hops are only present in embittering this, leaving a fairly high astringency. Not a fan.

On tap at Counterbalance, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out licorice root and vanilla beans. Flavour is along the same lines, with notes of licorice root, vanilla beans and root beer. Medium residual sweetness. Pretty good for what it is, but I don't like sarsaparilla. Meh.

On tap at Counterbalance, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out subtle notes of cocoa nibs and toasted malt, though it's all pretty restrained. Flavour is a little more robust, with notes of cocoa nibs, metallic notes and toasted bready malt. A little harsh with the metallic astringency. Okay, but needs a little refining.
