Description
Our story starts with four friends, a collective passion for better beer, and a garage. Brewing off a 20L rig consisting of a pot, a propane stand and a few glass fermenters, the 4 broad-headed (aka big noggined) fellas honed their skills. Feedback was so positive that thirst quickly outgrew supply and the idea of opening a commercial brewery was born.
With a fraction of the capital advised to take on a project of this magnitude, the founders banked on their engineering prowess to retrofit and repurpose equipment in combination with a whole lot of sweat equity and late nights. In the fall of 2011, Broadhead Brewery kicked its doors open to the public in Ottawa, Ontario.
Over the past decade, we’ve been fortunate enough to be able to live our dream and share that dream with our incredible team and amazing customers. While much has changed since the garage days, our strong work ethic holds true, we remain focused on crafting high quality beer that’s innovative yet approachable, while leveraging the backgrounds of our founders to conduct regular feats of engineering.

Can that pours a clean, golden colour with a big foamy head, good retention and some thick soapy lacing. Aromas are a blend of wheat-banana and some fresh herbal-grassiness. The taste is milder, balanced with the Belgian yeast and some decent grassy-hop notes. Some nice dryness lingers. Some beautiful pear fruitiness all through this. Everything works well.

Can that pours a clean, amber colour with hardly any carbonation. The head is still big, frothy-creamy, off-white head, good stay and some nice thick foamy lacing. Enough hops to give herbal notes, cutting the sweetness in the nose. The vanilla hints are very mild, blending with the caramel malts and grassiness that add a little dryness in the finish. Was expecting a lot of sweetness, but no - the hops are winning here.

Can that pours a slight hazed, bright golden-yellow colour with a frothy-fluffy white cap, decent stay and leaving some mild foamy-soapy lacing. Fruity nose with a nice balance of hops to cut the sweetness. The taste shows the guava at first, with the strawberry notes lingering. Hints of bananas with the hops getting a nice dry finish. Not too crazy fruity, not too hoppy, but a decent fruity Saison that goes down decently.
