On tap (Gainsbourg): Poured a pitch black color stout with a nice light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of absinthe is quite powerful with light roasted malt notes also discernable. Taste is a good mix between strong absinthe notes with some strong notes of anise and some good notes of roasted malt with light sweet finish. Body is about average with light creamy texture and no apparent alcohol. I really enjoyed the absinthe notes which are distinct but not necessarily overpowering.
2011 bottle rating - Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a super large light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of spices and absinth is well mix between some roasted malt with light note of lactose. Taste is also very smooth with a nice mix of herbs and spices with some clear notes of absinth and a quite sweet lactose finish. Body is quite creamy and full with OK carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed with nice balance between the different ingredients.

Purchased in a mixed 4-pack with the other fruit ones (apple, orange and cherry). This one pours a clean amber colour with a slight pink hue. Small white cap with decent lace. Nice raspberry juice scent with the tart part. Unfortunately, the tart is not present in the mouthfeel. Kind of a boring dryness. Mild raspberries in the taste, but mostly watery. Not as fake as some say, but just a little too mild. Preferred the apple and orange ones.

Purchased in a mixed 4-pack with the other fruit ones (apple, orange and raspberry). This one is the first one to have the fruit colour, and not be golden. Pours a clean amber-red colour with a light pink cap that goes down quicker than the other, but still gives out creamy lacing. The smell is more on the sweet side with the cherries, giving this a little more of a fake smell (compared to the apple and orange one). The taste is quite mild with the cherries and a little malt. Wishing this one had more tart and sweetness to it. Not bad, but not my favorite of these Ô Fruit beers.

Purchased in a mixed 4-pack with the other fruit ones (orange, cherry and raspberry). Pours a clean golden colour with a frothy white head, good retention and thick lacing. Aromas of real apple juice, not the fake candy apple stuff. The mouthfeel is almost tarty. Mild apple taste with some nice grain showing up in the finish (which was not in the orange version). You can see that real apple juice was added to this one as the colour is deeper golden. Not a cider, but a nice refreshing light apple ale.

Purchased in a mixed 4-pack with the other fruit ones (apple, cherry and raspberry). Pours a clean golden colour with a foamy white head that fizzes away leaving some decent lace. Big orange juice nose. Does not smell like fake candy orange. The taste is quite light (as this is what it is meant to be). Very mild orange flavours over the light malt. Still, a pretty nice light beer with oranges added that is probably nice for summer.

JANUARY 2013 RATING : Aroma: Strong malty accents with candied fruits, caramel and also little notes of wood and oak. May be aged in wood barrels with whiskey or bourbon; tag does not say. However, very strong and complex nose with tiny roasted notes. Color is very dark brown or you might want to call it black. Average creamy head, long lasting but with no lacing. Doesn’t stick much to glass despite his high ABV. Attack is warm and snug with sweet caramel, barley sugar, candied fruits and molasses notes. Alcohol is well dosed and lifting up flavors. Medium to full body, oily texture, close to a malt liquor. Finish comes with tiny smoky notes that balances the sweetness. Une excellente bière; chaude et enveloppante.
