Clearish golden coloured body with a thinnish, one centimetre tall white head with some orange highlights. Aroma of pungent, very strong ginger notes with a bit of malt and some rice and sugars and that’s about it - but the ginger really stands out. Light-bodied; Sharp ginger flavour which draws out some maltiness and a bit of sweetness and a spicey heat. Aftertaste shows much more ginger than I’d expect, with a hint of rice and a bit of sweetness on the tail end. Overall, not such a great beer - the ginger is overdone and showing way too much of that and not enough of anything else. I sampled this 341 mL bottle purchased from Marche des Saveurs in Montreal, Quebec, Canada for CA$1.99 on 04-December-2010 sampled at home in Washington almost two years later on 19-November-2012.

Purchased a 6-pack of this in a Hull, QC convenient store. Wow... a darker light beer at 4% ABV. Pours a clean copper colour with ruby highlights. The head is small (not sure if because air got in bottle, as it did not pop like a normal brew). Not much lace, nor retention. Still, pretty good looking for a light brew. Mild nose of caramel and roasted malts. Gets much better (stronger) as it breathes, with even coffee and molasses notes. Wet mouthfeel with a little watery roasted malt taste and hints of nuts. So, overall pretty mild, but great for this style of lightness.

A hazed brown copper barley wine with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a nutty and grassy malt with herbaceous hops, meaty notes and sulfur. In mouth, a sweet funky malt with vinous notes, licorice, nice and smooth, warming alcohol. On tap at Bieres et Saveurs, Sept. 2 2012.

Bouteille 341ml. Couleur noire opaque, mousse moka assez dense. Arôme de vanille très présente un peu artificielle, café, Bailey’s. Goût de vanille, avec un arrière-goût artificiel, café. Carbonation moyenne avec de fine bulle. Pourrait être plus riche pour une stout.

A hazed dark reddish brown ale with a thin brown head. In aroma, a sweet burned caramel malt with light plum notes, and a bit of musty notes. In mouth, a nice smooth treacle malt with light vanilla and honey notes, light molasses, a bit herbal, not bad.

Has a really strong smell - reminds me of Southern Tier’s creme broule stout in the aroma at least, without the high alcohol. There’s a lot of desert here, vanilla and coffee present almost in an overdose of aroma. Pours cola black with a little head, not much lacing. Taste has a little bitterness but the palate is pretty weak, aftertaste nearly non-existent. Bottle from Peluso.
