Bottled. Amber color, decent off-white head, lace. Toasted malts and fruit cake in the aroma. Sharp, metalic mouthfeel. Malty with dark fruits, hints of licorice. Just a bit too low ABV to make this really good ESB. Slighty earthy flavors too found.

Cask@Cayo Arms, Cardiff. Golden color, small white head. Honeyish flowery, hoppy nose. Also some crisp malty notes there. Hoppy, bitter, some underlying honey sweetness. Nice well-balanced ale.

Rapidly fleeting light-tan head recedes to nothing, with no ring even. Medium clarity throughout a dark, milk-chocolate brown body, with dark auburn highlights on the edges.
Faint, faint, faint nose is weakly chocolatey. Actually, I think I just made myself think I was smelling that because it’s a stout. I honestly couldnt smell much more than light yeast. OldGrowth was able to find some light roast and a hint of coffee, which I suppose I could find upon warming, but this had to be the most lacking aroma I’ve ever smelled. And my nose wasnt shot because we compared it to the Acorn Stout and that was beautifully aromatic and complex.
Flavor was, unfortunately, almost equally as bland. Light touches of syrupy-textured water, very loose, with the barest hint of lean chocolate and a hint of dry graham crackers and yeast on the finish. No flaws though (on the meager plus side) and not oxidized, just needs more there. I little more primer would have gone a long way on this one.

Cask at GBBF Golden, citrus, blond beer, nice enough with goodish hops on the end.

[Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF, 2004] An orange beer with a small disappearing beige head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of caramel. The flavor is dry and boring with hints of caramel. A very average beer.

Sampled on cask at the Cayo Arms, Cardiff...Copper colour; malty aroma and flavour; oily body; hint of tangerine...balanced and drinkable.

Known simple as BB. Amber colour; smooth malt character; caramel overtones.

Dark amber; light, fruity aroma (melon, gooseberry, underripe pear); palate is more intense, with chocolate chip notes and a light crystal malt character.

Supposing that you're in Cardiff and its not Brain's you want, then you'd be well advised to head for the Cayo Arms for some Tomos Watkin product. Cwrw Haf simply means "wheat beer". This one is blonde, with some yeast and citrus notes; vaguely crisp finish and an underlying maltiness throughout.

Dark amber. Definitely a malt accented bitter, chewy malts, some crystal malt flavour. Dryish with medium bitterness. Really good bitter!
