Very good dense & fine-bubbled, yellowish head, stable, over hazy yellow-orange beer, well-carbonated. Aromatic, 'hot', estery nose, yeast features, but also garden herbs. Quite bitter, EU hops rather than New World, with a faint, not really sweet pale malts backing, though the sweetness increases gradually, faintly as cornflakes. In the end, good balance. Esters remain subdued in the mouth, but for a faint resurgence warming up. Feels quite carbonated actually, near fizzy. Bit slick, medium bodied. Apart from a shor initial bitterness, linked to the estery nose - also rather volatile - this is essentialy a very common easy drinking beer, with no special features.

Immense tan head, building up upon opening, near-black beer. Stable head with textbook lace. Dry-ish, but also dark malts, dark candi sugar, green leaves. Quite dry taste, very slighly ashy, melanoidins, grain husks and roasted malts. Slight but present hopbitterness. Light body for an 8% ABV beer. Good carbonation, hopoil slick, obviously well-attenuated. OK, but not exceptional, certainly not in its "style" .

Picked this up from Beer Gonzo shop, Earlsdon, Coventry and consumed at Farewell to the Oddington Arms & Neil (Nellie) Friday 20th April 2018 on a stunning sunny day. Pours a murky edging towards black colour. Fruity and bitter but softened out by the yeastiness which really does pop this into the confusing catergory as regards beer. I liked this but only had a small amount before we had to cycle home. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.7

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a clear gold with 2 full fingers of foam that lingers. Estery saison yeast nose with black pepper, clove and banana. Bone dry on the palate with pepper and pith. Slightly warming with quite a bitter finish for the style. --- Beer merged from original tick of Saison Station 55 on 08 Apr 2018 at 20:42 - Score: 7.
