Description
La brasserie artisanale Saint-Monon est une entreprise familiale née en 1996, située à Ambly, à la limite de l’Ardenne et de la Famenne.

Saint-Monon beer was born in 1996 in the heart of the Famenne, land of brigandage and legends located at the gateway to the Belgian Ardennes. This beverage straight out of the imagination of the youngest Walloon brewer in, Pierre Jacob, quickly acquired its letters of nobility.

Pierre Jacob is an industrial engineer in the food industry. Nature, he works with and he respects it. His farm is 100% self-sufficient in electricity, the filtration residues from his beers are converted into food for the village animals, organic waste is composted, he works with recycled paper and cardboard boxes.

A: malty, caramel, honey, sweet fruity, sweet orange peels. T: medium malty base, honey, caramel, sweet fruity, bit oxidized, bit metallic, medium carbonation, ok, drinkable yet nothing really good but still I appreciate local beer.

Tasted in 2004: Orange color, a bit cloudy. Vanilla and orange aroma. Just a bit yeasty flavor with vanilla, cinnamon and orange. Not bad, even has a bit of complexity.

Aroma has cane sugar and licorice. Somewhat roasted flavor with cake dough, sweet and sugary. Some licorice and just a hint of cinnamon. Too sweet to be really good.

Honey aroma. Not too sweet, but a strong honey flavor. A bit flowery and alcoholic. Just a hint of bitterness. Not abundant with flavors, but fairly well balanced and certainly drinkable.

Pale blonde, cloudy. The color of a witbier. Coreander, grape juice and citrus in the aroma. Just a fair bit of coreander in the flavor, together with some flour and citrus. Powdery mouthfeel. Fairly thin and alcoholic.
