16/V/16 - bottle @ Leuven Innovation - BB: n/a (2016-545) Thanks to the Belgian RB crew for sharing today's beers!

Clear orange beer, small creamy off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: bit sweet, melons, hoppy, some butterscotch, hint of diacetyl, caramel malts. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very fruity and hoppy start, bitter, little buttery, bit sweet, malty. Aftertaste: hoppy, dry, bit resinous, fruity, melons, dry bitter finish. Would be pretty good if it weren't for the diacetyl.

16/V/16 - 33cl bottle @ Leuven Innovation - BB: n/a (2016-540) Thanks to the Belgian RB crew for sharing today's beers!

Clear golden to orange beer, small irregular white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, black currants, smell is very pronounced and sweet. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very fruity, acidic, lots of black currants, nothing sweet in the flavour at all! Almost vinegar like acidity. Aftertaste: lots and lots of black currants, fruity, dry puckering sour finish.

Medium, very fine & dense yellowish head over pale copper-coloured ale, faintly hazy. Ureum-rich NW hops, bit of valerian/cat’s pee, citruszeste. Bit more of the same, but rather lame, tired hops with ureum and rosewater. Medium bodied, hopoil-slick; long-lasting flavours. Good try - nothing more.

Small rim over reddish orange beer. Fruity, berry-like nose, faintly pharmaceutical, all in all demure. Sourish, titillating fruitflavour, balancing between fruitsour and childrens’ fruitsweets - Rosevicée watered down. White or rosé wine in the aftertaste. Very light body, especially for a 7% ABV beer. In the end, quite pleasing.

Queen Mary Old Burton ale 2016 No head to speak of; clear orange beer. Caramel, green herbs/weeds, coming up rather strong; bit of orangepeel. Strong caramel, lightly roasted malt flavour. Rather unidimensional. Sticky MF, well-bodied, potent alcohol. Rather typically unidimensional, if not bad. Not really convincingly British, I must add.
