Bottle shared at the DC Local tasting. Pours a translucent orange, brown with a creamy slightly off white head. Aroma is mild, some brown sugar sweetness, a little earthy, some smokey cherry, a little wood. One person remarked, "smells like a hardware store." Flavor is smokey, cherries, peaty, fruits, wood. Active carbonation. Nice, fruity finish.

12oz bottle. Extra points from the start with the actual hop cone in the bottle! Murky amber-brown, with a decent head that fades into an oily top layer of off-white. The aroma is pretty easy going, not so intense at all, maybe some deep orange vanilla syrup hoppiness. The mouthfeel is pretty nice, with a thick, malty backbone laced with a thick, bitter hop bite. Some mild caramel and toffee tones, with lots of earthy orange pine sweetness. A very solid IIPA all around, worth seeking out.

Draft at OF. Deep black color with a thin head. Sweet caramel toffee tones. Thin sweet Black malt, almost Dunkel-like with an earthy mild bitterness. Sweet sugary aftertaste. Mild watery finishing mouthfeel. Sort of like a failed attempt at a McEwans Scottish Ale. Addendum: I found the bottle to be much better than what I had on tap. The smoky, mossy peat really shines through..upped the overall from a 12 to a 15.

12 oz bottle courtesy of alagnak. Pour is brown black with a 1/2 inch tan head. Aroma of grain rye black bread maltiness. Touch of cream milkiness followed by roasted office coffee. There is some grassy tobacco in there too. Taste is flat off coffee and creamer. Mildly roasty, weird sweet milky sweet. Not all that much of my sort of thing. Palate is medium, above average carbonation. Aftertaste is the flat coffee - with some sweetness and the tobacco. Pretty dull overall. I have really enjoyed all of these O’so Beers Chris, thanks.

22 oz bottle generously sent to me by alagnak. pour is hazed yellow golden orange with a thick 2 inch white head. Some lazy carbonation bubbles float up to the surface. The head is quite lasting, when it eventually falls, nice spotty lacing is left behind. Really pretty in my Tank 7 Tulip. Aroma of tangerine citrus fruit, lemon peel and husky wheat grain. Nice fresh and balanced nose. Taste is the citrus fruit, along with a yeasty spice clove that I didn’t detect in the nose. The grain wheat is in the taste and carries from middle through to the finish. Nice transition of flavors. The aftertaste has some yeasty herbal medicinal thing that didn’t really fit with the rest of the beer. Palate is medium, nice active carbonation and a dry finish. Really nice hoppy Saison. Thanks again Chris.

Bottle. Deep amber body with a diminishing off-white head. Aroma of vinegar, sour apple, grain, toffee and caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly tart. The finish is lightly sweet, lightly bitter and moderately tart. Medium body with a chalky texture and moderate carbonation. Between the vinegary aroma and taste and the chalky mouthfeel, this beer is less than enjoyable.

12 oz bottle courtesy of alagnak. Pour is hazy white-ish yellow, even a green tint. The 1/2 inch pure white head falls fast with loose bubbles and foam. Aroma of grainy wheat and citrus tangerine lemon and sweet floral hoppiness. The hop aroma is quite present, bold and fresh. Interesting nose. The taste is a mix of the nose’s wheat grain and bright citrus and floral hops. The wheat is a bit stronger in the taste than the hops, though the hops are still very much present. The finish has some clove and peanut shells, even a little bit of the saltiness. Taste was a big drop off from the expectations I had from the aroma. Palate is pretty thin gets very blah and watery at the end. Lowish carbonation. Thanks for sending this my way Chris, it was an interesting one.

12 oz bottle sent to me by alagnak. Pour is a cloudy yellow with a bright white one inch head that falls quick. Not too much lacing. Aroma of grainy cracker malt and orange fruit. Some nice yeasty, mild clove spice in there as well. A touch of flint and mineral present as well. Nice full clean nose. Taste is sharp acidic citrus (much more orange or lemon peel than the fruit of the nose) out of the gate, with some clove spice and then the cracker grainy malt. Like the nose, natural and fresh - very unfiltered taste. Palate is full, yet light and drinkable with nice carbonation. Finish features the mineral earthiness from the nose. Nice one, thanks for thinking of me Chris - this was right up my alley.

Shared by Dan, thanks a lot. I really like this, its my kind of Saison. Pours a thick straw-golden color. Cannot see through it and has a small head. Aroma is very strong on the spicy and estery Saison yeast. Fruity aspects abound including lemon. Flavor has that great estery and fruity yeastiness all over. But it is easy drinking and has just a bit of sweetness at the end. The aftertaste has a lingering yeast spice character. I really liked this and want to drink it again.

Draft at the OF, served in an icy pint glass. Hazy tan-orange color with a big, foamy head. Light and fresh lemony aroma and taste. Smooth and watery, somewhere between light and medium bodied. Some vanilla nuances in there as well. No real hop character to speak of. Light malt sweetness, light orange zest.
