Growler pours out amber with tan head. The aroma begins big with pumpkin pie spices like cinnamon and nutmeg to go along with good old canned pumpkin and a sense of roastiness in the background. The taste starts with classic Maduro Brown Ale creaminess ushering in roasty malts, pumpkin pie spices and a mild amount of pumpkin. Midway it picks up a bit of chocolate, dark roasted coffee (or possibly dark roasted malts). The dark roastiness plays very nicely up against the spices and dash of pumpkin.

1QT growler–pours a tan head that laces with brown color. Aroma is dark malt/oats-molasses/ caramel, raisins. Taste is dark malt/oats-molasses/ caramel, raisins,spice.

Bottle 137 of 221 Poured after the non Bourbon Barrel aged version. Pours out a dark brown topped with a small sand head. Aroma was of bourbon a little over powering but hey. Also some oak and vanilla. Taste was of sweet chocolate, vanilla, oak, and plenty of rick roast malts.

Bottle Thanks to my man snoop doggy Douglas88. Pours out a dark brown topped with a sand head. Aroma is of dark chocolate, nuttiness, and rich malts. Taste was more of the roast malts, sweetness, some smoke maybe cigar ash??? Maybe not. A tasty treat right before the BB version.

Bottle from ericandersnavy. Thanks for parting with this. Pours black as night with a really dark tan head. Aroma is coffee and chocolate with very burnt malt. Hints of wood. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Flavor is oak, treacle, chocolate, coffee, and maybe some dark fruit. Heat is minimal. Finish is dark and dark! This is a really good beer.

Bottle - thanks changeup415. Chocolate colored body with a large, creamy beige head. Nose is mostly sweet, citrus and light florals. Strange for an all malt ale... Sweet, citrus, and floral up front, almost syrupy, before a soapy bitterness takes over. I’ve had beer with rye before, so what is this all about? This can’t be the oatmeal or rye; it tastes like it was aged in a pvc pipe... Dry finish with a lingering soapy bitterness. As it warmed, the rye becomes more noticable in the aroma. Not bad. I still taste a little plastic/soapy bitters in the tail, but it is less noticable than before. Still, as much as I want to like this... it just didn’t happen.

Bottle - thanks changeup415. Nice dark leathery brown color with a finger of creamy tan head. Nose of roasted malt, light coffee, and an undeterminable spice that gives it a kind of lively sweetness. A smooth, rich blend of caramel, roasted malt, mocha, and toffee. Maybe even a little hazlenut. Lingering finish is dry and lightly bitter, full of roast and mocha. Well balanced overall. A rich and full flavored brown ale... nice.

Bottle - thanks changeup415. Pours a rich chocolatey brown color with a small, creamy beige head. First sniff gets some breadiness, follwed by a little peat. Maybe a hint of rye? Taste is rich with an earthy and smokey maltiness. Lingering bits of peat and caramel. There is a little sweet before the smokey, ash, and peat thing, but I can’t put my finger on it... Nice mouthful, thick and coating. Finishes a bit dry and smokey.

Shared by mreusch. 750mL with useless wax, #11 out of 450 poured into a Darkness tulip glass. A nice medium-low head forms with a really dark dark brown color. This fades to a small but strong lacing covering the side of the glass. The color of the beer is black as night. Aroma is alcoholic barrel with char and coffee. Hops sprinkle the aroma but the alcohol breaking through the aroma interferes with my ability to differentiate them. I get a mix of piny hops and possibly cedar on the very end of the flavor. But I do not like cedar and I am not a fan of piny hops in my Impy Stouts. Flavor is followed by that alcohol essence taking over the brew. It thins it out a bit too much (as is the case with BA brews). Still some chocolate and roast with some prune but that alcohol just dictating to much of the action. A nice fuller feel with a reduced carbonation. I like this but I would love this with less alcoholic barrel.

Dark brown color. Oatmeal and rye compete in the nose and it is not really a good combination. In fact, it kinda reminded me of Brett. Big body, fairly hoppy, lots of oatmeal and sharp rye notes. I don’t know, it just seemed liked this beer was going too many directions at once and got lost. Didn’t do much for me.
