2009 bottle number 158/246 thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours with a hazy brown body and a fading white head. Aroma of caramel, lots of bourbon, and fusel alcohol. Taste is fruit, sugar, brown sugar, maple, bourbon and a bit nutty. Light carbonation.

Bottle from ericandersnavy (and one from a trade with daknole). Pours an inky black with a dark brown head. Aroma of cocoa, a lot of sweetness, chocolate, molasses, light mocha and alcohol. Taste is cocoa, chocolate (both dark and sweet), with a little bit of strong coffee to round it out. Creamy body.

Pours with a black body and a minimal head. Coats the glass when swirled. Aroma is quite sweet with port, cocoa and a bit of coconut. Taste is sweet, cocoa nibs, vanilla, and a bit vinous/port. Syrupy and mouthcoating. Pretty decent for sure.

Bottle shared by coyotehunter. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head and aromas of pie cherries, oak, molasses, cinammon and oranges. Flavor is very close to the nose and is reminiscent is a thin version of Eccentric Ale with some age. Pretty solid alcoholic warmth and a decent sweetness to the finish.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dirty orangey color ale with a super huge foamy head with great retention and some super good lacing. Aroma of light Brett with some fruity ester and some spicy yeast is very interesting and quite complex. Taste is also a well balanced mix between some Brett with light sour notes and some fruity ester that are well mix with a spicy yeast finish. Body is full with limited filtration and perfect carbonation with no appearance of alcohol. Very well and I must say that I am very impressed by this new brewer.

Thanks again to Skyview. A guy has to know the inside story to appreciate the name. Black. Very heavily roasted. Some soy sauce, which is good. Thick and heavy on the palate. Maybe too much roasted malt and grain. Still, thick, smooth palate, if one dimensional.

No doubt the bottle is pretty. Bourbon in the aroma, with brown sugar. I am sensitive to bourbon, and if it isn’t in the perfect amount, with high quality, I usually won’t like it. Sweet flavor, and more bourbon. It is balanced, and has sort of a Belgian quality to it. One of the better beers I tried from Cigar City, and considering the bourbon, that is saying something.

Black with a big, khaki colored head. Very little in the aroma, unfortunately. Kind of a mess, hops rye, lightly roasted grain, burnt popcorn. It is hard to figure out what they were going for. Thanks to Skyview for sharing anyway.

I think this was a success all around with the Minnesota crew. Gold color. Hops nose. Flavor has bitter hops, with a medicinal quality, and a taste & aroma of wet cedar. Dry and quite bitter.
