Description

Dark blond with fluffy head. Aroma has lots of pale malts. Flavour is similar but with a light hop bitterness. The sweet versus bitter balance is good.

Dark blond with thin head. Aroma and flavour have a little spicy yeast. Quite dry. Tastes ok but the thin body doesn’t help.

Bottle @ home. Hazy orange to dark orange color, medium to full sized decently lasting beige head. Nice aroma of a hoppy saison. Taste malts, yeast slightly, a bit bretty, lightly a hint of hops and somewhat bretty bitter. Not unpleasant. Decent to medium body, medium carbonation.

Bottle split at L42, thanks to Kenny for this Top 50 treat, 14/03/17. Murky amber with a moderately appointed off white cap that escapes edgeward. Nose is sweet and sour, fruit rinds, caramel, strawberry essence, light barrel notes. Taste comprises mellow dark fruit shreds, toffee, tarte orange, peppery spice, fruit loaf. Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a boosty kick. Fine for the style but doesn’t deliver on an 8%+ billing compared to other beers.

75cl Bottle from Burg Bieren. Hazy amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of a clear Brett infection, hop, light herbal, floral, funky, high Orval character. Flavour is floral, herbal bitter, lots of funk, Brett, medium sweetness, some caramel, bitter finish. Medium bodied. Probably not turned out how it was intended, but I liked it.
