Description
Brewery 't Paenhuys was established in 2010 by hobbybrewer Paul Van Nieulande. A Paenhuys is a brewery. Every village used to have one. The Paenhuys or house of pans puts his brewing equipment at the disposition of the residents of the village. The brewer assisted in brewing the resident’s own recipes. On occasions such as weddings, births or other, a brew was made which could be consumed a few weeks later. The Paenhuys supplied the ingredients and took a part of the brew when it turned out to be delicious. Even today you can brew your own beer at our brewery ‘t Paenhuys.

In Leuven at the ZBF. Pours hazy coppery color with a thin and tick white head. Nose of citrus, tropical fruits and grass. Mouth: good carbonation, perfectly balanced. The end offers some interesting notes of wood barrel. Thumbs up! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thanks. Sampled @ ZBF 2014. Hazy murky yeasty orange, med white head. Smells of soap, dishwashing liquid, chemical citrus. Tastes of raw vegetables upfront, followed by dishwashing liquid lemon, candy, chemical, herbal. Fizzy feel. Uhm, no this is not it, whatever this is.

26/IV/14 - 33cl bottle @ ZBF 2014 (Leuven) - BB: n/a (2014-410) Thanks to the Belgian Ratebeer crew for sharing today's beers!

Bit cloudy amber beer, aery off-white head, little stable. Aroma: very sweet and sugary, lots of malts, caramel, some overripe banana. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit malty start, then lots of bitterness, some banana, overripe fruits. Aftertaste: dry bitter hops, bit fruity. Would not call this an ipa.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 21/01/2016, at Gastropub Tuulensuu, 20140308) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had yeast, spices, grass and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, yeast, herbalness, spices, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was spicy, hoppy and bitter. A complex and confusing brew.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. BBF 21/01/2016. HUGE GUSHER, lost prob. 85 % of the bottle. Dark reddish, tanned, creamy disappearing head. Nose is fermenting sour red berries, slight vinegar, sour malt, yoghurt, candy caramel, definitely off, reminds me of an Oud Bruin, mind you an okay one. Thick bitter yeast taste, creamy yoghurt, candy sugar, sour wild red berries, light wood & touch vinegar, bit varnish, thick spoiled dough, light oud bruin notes, mineral. Thick old yoghurt & way to high carb. Body totally off but actually not that bad if you like sours, it is by no means a good beer & certainly not a good sour, I have had worse sours. This is actually drinkable.
