Description
Crafted Artisan Meadery was launched in 2012 in Akron, Ohio with a dedication to producing highly drinkable, modern mead. We take the pre-conceived notion of what mead “is” and throw it out the window by creating mead styles that push the envelope of the category. Gose-inspired Mead? Why not! Bourbon-Barrel Bananas Foster Mead? Sure! Mead that isn’t so sweet that it requires diabetes screening after consumption? You got it!
We believe in creativity over tradition. We believe that the quality of the liquid inside our bottles and behind our labels is the most important thing to our customers. We believe you shouldn’t have to donate plasma to afford a great bottle of mead. We believe that opening the door to the mead category to as many people as possible is why we exist and we’re having a blast doing it! We do not produce beer, grape wine or cider. We make modern mead for everyone.

(Thanks, Jeremy! JStax) Can. A- Mild cherry, subtle honey. A- Red color, clear liquid, no head. T- Mild cherry, slightly sweet. P- Light body, average texture, high carbonation, balanced finish. O- More like a cider than a mead in my opinion. Especially considering the low ABV. Okay, but not something I would normally drink.

Sample at the Black Friday 04 tasting on 11/23/2018. This Mead is a clear pale golden color with a minimal head and partial legs on the glass. Aroma of banana, vanilla and bourbon. Medium to full body with flavors of banana cream pie, oaky vanilla and bourbon. The finish is sweet with a banana and bourbon aftertaste. Good Mead all around.

Bottle from Tasty Beverage in Asheville. Stubby, yet elegant. No idea what I payed for it. Only 6%, but a mead? Sierra Nevada Sidecar glass. Too lazy to clean the Duvel. Pale, lavender foam rises & recedes. A clear, reddish brown body sits. Smells of hops & something fairly Concord grape & blackberry-like. Taste is lightly laquered, with obvious residual honey. Faintly carbonated. Juicy, mostly sweet & faintly tart raspberry & blackberry pop out. Fairly sweet, but very thin & easy to drink. Noticable, but lighter plastic note that cones with mead. Tastes like it was backsweetend with the entirety of the juice. Natural, but just way underdone. Can I drink this? Yes. It is well made? No. Manischewitz, almost.
