Description
Crafted Artisan Meadery was launched in 2012 in Akron, Ohio with a dedication to producing highly drinkable, modern mead. We take the pre-conceived notion of what mead “is” and throw it out the window by creating mead styles that push the envelope of the category. Gose-inspired Mead? Why not! Bourbon-Barrel Bananas Foster Mead? Sure! Mead that isn’t so sweet that it requires diabetes screening after consumption? You got it!
We believe in creativity over tradition. We believe that the quality of the liquid inside our bottles and behind our labels is the most important thing to our customers. We believe you shouldn’t have to donate plasma to afford a great bottle of mead. We believe that opening the door to the mead category to as many people as possible is why we exist and we’re having a blast doing it! We do not produce beer, grape wine or cider. We make modern mead for everyone.

(Thanks, Jeremy JStax) Bottle. A- Earthy, ashy, coffee grounds. A- Yellow color, clear liquid, no head. T- Coffee, mild sweetness, cream cheese. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, astringent finish. O- I do actually get a cream cheese flavor in here but the nose is too earthy vegetal coffee for me. Wanted a much sweeter dessert like flavor from this but just didn't get it. Much prefer the still meads.

(Thanks, Jeremy JStax) Bottle. A- Nutty, ash. A- Gold color, clear liquid, white head. T- Peanut butter, banana, cream, ashy. P- Medium body, fizzy texture, high carbonation, complex finish. O- So much potential here but something was off for me. Had a strong ashy character to it that ruined the banana and peanut butter flavors. The peanut butter was very nutty. Wanted to love it and liked it alright but not quite there for me on this one.

(Thanks, Jeremy JStax) Bottle. A- Lavender, vanilla, honey, french perfume. A- Pale yellow color, clear liquid, no head. T- Lavender, vanilla, mild alcohol. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly sweet finish. O- The lavender and vanilla in here are the perfect match for a quality mead. Some might be turned off as it gives a strong perfume like characteristic but I really enjoyed this. Great stuff.

Bottle shared by JStax, thanks Jeremy. Tanner mentioned the aroma was odd. It kind of is. Flavor shows mild orange, mild vanilla. Hints of the honey. OK as far as mead goes.

Lots of berries and I even hint a mild touch of smoke. Wish there was a touch more of that natural honey flavor but still good.

Bottle shared by JStax, thanks Jeremy. Flavor shows black currants, blackberry nuances. Some hints of jam. Has a low tartness that is balanced by the honey. I also love the name and description. Well played!
