Bottle at SAVOR. This one poured a pitch black color with a tan head. Aroma was dark fruits, roasted and toasted malts, alcohol notes, and a touch of bourbon. This was solid! Flavor was vanilla wood, oaked flavors, dried fruit notes, chocolate. Alcohol is present, but not overpowering, especially with such great flavors that pierce the rest of the beer. Will be seeking this one out for another go.

Pours the darkest shade of brown bordering on black but still lets a faint bit of light through. Thinnish Khaki head shows a moderate desire to hold its place at the top but is inevitably sucked back into the abyss. Smells of bourbon and chocolate right off the bat. Vanilla, licorice and molasses are mixed with hints of burnt sugar. Some harsher alcohol comes out as she warms up, but I could smell this thing all night if you let me. The taste leans towards the sweet end of the spectrum. Creamy rich dark chocolate covered espresso beans dipped in bourbon then dredged into dark brown sugar just about sums up the flavor here. Lingering roast and bourbon on the finish. Creamy smooth mouthfeel, thick body, and a light level of carbonation. I really enjoyed this one, although it is certainly a sipper and maybe a touch too sweet. I’m glad I got to try this but at north of 20 dollars for the 750 this is one and done for me.

Bottle: Poured a light copper color ale with a small foamy head with limited retention and limited lacing. Aroma of clear whiskey notes with light warming alcohol and sweet malt notes. Taste is a bit too sweet for my taste with some warming alcohol notes and rounded edge from the barrel-aging. Body is about average with OK carbonation and light alcohol notes. Limited complexity with too much sweetness and good barrel–aging notes.

On tap. Lemon clear yellow. Scum of pond for a head. Mild sweeter artificial aroma. Big bitter blast that is suspiciously lacking of real hops. Comes across like a cheaper american tripple, heheh. Taste is more bitter than hoppy fer sure. Weird, different and unique. Medicine finish. Not impressed but certainly on style for a strong beldgy immatation.

Sampled on draft at Smokin’ Joe’s this beer poured a dark caramel-amber color with a large creamy yellow-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was very strong sweet fruit cocktail. The flavor was very strong sweet fruit cocktail, sherbert and alcohol. The beer turned a bit dry towards the long finish that had lingering fruit cocktail and table sugar. Thick and full bodied. Boozy, but somehow it worked with this one. Marvelous!
