Totally hazy orange. Orange-coloured, 1/2 cm thick head, relatively stable. Very spicy nose, ginger, orange zest, undefined spices (they tell me gentian, in fact all the Wayan spices). No kriek, or cherries. "Farmyard" flavours, ginger, spicy, rosemary. No kriek. End of the bottle is solid suspension of yeast and other stuff. What IS this?? Mouthfeel a bit burning form the spices, no fruitacids. Again rosemary, even lavender in the aftertaste. This is like an Italian (?) interpretation of "Farmyard ale". Whatever this is, it ain't kriek - but the brewer maintains, it's gonna change character after six months lagering. Oh well.

Bottled. Coffee colour, creamy head. Aroma of plum and alcohol. Lightly roasty and medium sweet with short, rounded maltines. Vaguely acidic with a hit of cherries in a drysih finish. Baladin can do much better than this. Is the spelling Nöel Italian humour?

Another try to recreate beer from ancient Egypt. Still, it reminds me too much of a Belgian wheatbeer. As wheatmalt, orange peel and ginger are used, it is not surprising, but I find even tones of coriandre and allspice (not used). A bit of vegetable bitterness, then a lot of sweetness, developping an interesting fruity character. The myrrh? The thick white head is surprisingly stable.

Beautiful red-amber color, hazy; moderate carbonation, but the fine perlage manage to support a thin collar. Mild aroma, with malt, delicate fruity touch, and only minimal oxidisation (metallic feeling). Good body structure; malt flavor, some residual sweetness, and a light fruity touch; the bitterness is totally gone; there is a light sign of oxidisation.
Interesting, even if over the top.

Amber color; creamy big head. Malty aroma, and quite sweet malty flavor. Too yeasty. Ok, but quite simple.

2002-09-10, bottle, 7-4-7-4-15=37
Amber colour, hazy. Light aroma, some alcohol. Lightly fruity when warmer.
Pretty sweet, but the body structure is not convincing; some malt, too much alcohol, fruity, dry banana. Too sweet. Strong bitter final.
The note improves when the beer warms a little (alternative evaluation, first impression 5-4-6-4-13), the aroma is fruitier and so the flavour, but forget any complexity!
I will soon try the bottled version.
They claim it was presented at the GBBF-2002 as the best Italian beer; my suggestion is: go and try the Birrificio Italiano Tipopils.

Dark amber, thick and generous head, yoghurt-like. Light hop aroma. Smooth, some sweetness, balanced soon by a correct bitterness, raising in a stronger palate.
Actually the one that I liked most visiting this brewery.

Hazy golden color; the head reduces quickly to just a thin collar. The aroma is clear, spices (pepper), with notes of cellar. Agile beer, with a sharp pepper character, dry malt flavor, correct bitterness. It has a good balance, a high drinkability, character and it marries well many dishes.

2002-09-10, draught at the brewery, 4-5-7-4-14=34
Amber colour, thin collar of foam. Simple aroma, with some malt and hop; spices, black pepper. Original flavour, smooth, good mix of malt and hop. Strong palate.

Cloudy blond colour, thin collar of thick head. Very nice aroma, a little spicy, white sugar, malt, citrus fruits. Different from traditional wheat ales, more similar to a brauhaus pils, good malt and hop, light. Ordinary palate.
