found some notes of this beer i had way back in the winter of 2004. Had it on draught in my hometown of Sturgeon Falls. Nothing fancy, it’s wattery, and pretty weak. Slight malt in the aroma anf flavour, no hops to speak about. meh. typical northern ontario swill.

This red poured a cloudy, deep red colour with a big, creamy, reddy beige head. Nice lacing. Scents include light ripe fruit, must, nuts and a little brown sugar. First swig was a little disappointing. Flavours of malt, ripe fruit, hops and minimal white wine? Finish is malty with hoppy bitterness lingering.

Originally rated November 2004. This is beer I discovered a while back because it would look pretty low-budget and white-trash, so my buddy and I thought it would be funny to try. It caught us off guard. Since then, I have been a fan. Poured a golden-yellow colour with a small head. Leaves a bit of lacing in spots. The nose is hoppy. The mouth is of sweet malts, mild hops, with hints of apples (which is what I really like about this brew). The mouthfeel is smooth and kind of dry. One of my favorite plain-old lager. Note: Too bad it is not being made anymore.

Originally rated June 2005. This maple premium lager pours a deep red and brown caramel colour. Lacing is left, so is a coating on the brew. The nose is mainly malt. Good creamy smooth mouthfeel. Taste is malty as well for the beginning, then hits a grain finish with hints of apple. Hardly any sign of maple in this one, just slight sweetness. If you are looking for a maple beer, be sure to check out Schoune à l’érable. Still a good premium amber lager.

Originally rated August 2005. Had this one at the Pub Italia on Preston street in Ottawa, Ontario. Poured a golden honey amber colour with a small head and amount of lacing. The carbonation was lively. The nose and taste were both light in fruit, like peach. Also found in the taste was grain malt and a clean finish. The mouthfeel was creamy and almost sandy, in a way. Overall, a very well-brewed beer with very nice peachy taste and aromas, and a good first experience with Agassiz brewery.

Originally rated August 2005. This cream ale pours a golden colour with hardly any head, no retention, no carbonation and no lace. The nose is hoppy with hints of honey. The mouthfeel is fizzy and the taste is very light. Slight bitterness throughout with a mild malty aftertaste. Refreshing, but very bland overall.

Originally rated September 2005. Pours a normal golden lager colour with a small white head that dissipates quickly, but leaves decent lace. The nose is actually pretty good, with grain malt and some nice hop scent. Not much carbonation and mouthfeel is a bit thin. The taste is malty but has some nice bitterness to it.... but yet, very smooth. This is not a bad lager at all, but I am very dissapointed that their Edelbrau is gone. You will be missed.

Originally rated September 2005. On the label, four medals represent the gold winnings this brew won in the 80’s. Pours a pale yellow, but not as pale as Busch beers. Some golden colour is also found. Decent white head that dissapears quickly, and some lace is there in small patchy quantity. Good aroma of grain malt. Watery mouthfeel, very lightly bodied. The taste is quite light too, with some corn, malt and a touch of hop. Not bad on the first one, but gets disgusting after having 3-4 of them.
