Red copper ale with nice white head. Sweet coriander and oranges ina roma with light alcohol and hops. Rather thin sweet candy sugar in mouth, with warm alcohol and light orange peels. Short and thin. DumDum’s Belgian Sendoff on August 25, 2005.

Slightly hazy orange body, thin light tan head, clumping, creamy. Aroma with notes of pineapple, white grape, spice (peppery), and alcohol. Slightly tart body with pineapple, toast, and a spicy bitter finish with hot alcohol notes. Heavy on the spices and less complex than many examples.

Translucent copper pour. Strong aroma of sweet, ripe apples with spice and banana notes. The flavor is filled with sweet malts revealing themselves as plum, apple and banana with a touch of clove in the back of the mouth. The beer is light and sticky on the palate with a slight burning finish, probably because of the alcohol. Nice, but not as rounded and balanced as the other two tripels I have rated.

Pour is a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is a stong hop with a touch of malts in there, I also detect some sour apple. Flavor is fruit and citrus with some earthy moss in there. A very tasty and satisfying brew.

The aroma of this seasonal is strong and sweet. Fruits — raspberry, cherries and a hint of banana — combine with caramel and sweet malt notes. The flavor follows the aroma with the sweet malts and fruits dominating. There is a slight bitterness at the end, but not much hop presence, perhaps because this was a 2004 bottle. Thin to medium body which is slightly sticky in the mouth, but nicely carbonated. Smooth finish.

A pretty authentic version of the style - nice dark amber color with a thick ring of tan lacing - aroma of figs, dates, brown sugar, port and slight alcohol - surprisingly dry, but with enough sweetness/malt to keep it from being overly so - somewhat vinous, with soft carbonation - brown sugar and raisins come in late, along with some caramel malt - just enough alcohol burn to remind you of its strength - pretty nicely done.

This opens a bit gushy, all tall mocha brown head that takes awhile to settle down and allow any additions to the glass. A pleasant mix of light chocolate and coffee dominate the aroma, and the flavor is exactly what was promised from the aroma. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a good middle of the road Porter.

I’ve had both the draft and bottled version, which was virtually the same. Cloudy copper/amber in color with a small head. Sweet aromas of hops, spice, vanilla, and bread. Vanilla cream flavor, with hints of spice. Tasty, but I prefer the Winter Solstice.

An amber beer with a thin orange-brown head. The aroma is hoppy with notes of oranges and grapefruit, while the flavor is sweet with notes of caramel as well as slight notes of hops.
