Bottled. Hazy copper colour. Grassy aroma. A very powerful beer with thick mouthfeel. Plenty of malt sweetness and obvious notes of licorice. Much more barley wine character than altbier character, and with all the warming qualities of a barley wine.

Clear amber color with a thick creamy white head. Aroma of malt with hints of honey. Sweet flavor with light hops.

Hazy brown color with a thin off-whiye head. Dark malt and light wheat aroma. Strong molassas flavor.

Swing-top bottle: Very pale "golden" coloured, mid-sized white fluffy head, slowly diminishing; fruity nose (lemon peel, citrus), but only a faint tinge of bananas or cloves; slightly sweetish, fruity flavour, soft mouthfeel, light bodied; very faint tart, citrusy/sourish finish. Deceptive beginning, pretty bland finish, but refreshing, though................

Abject thanks for this rare gem to pivo and Yogi Deep chestnut, clear beer; amber-beige firm head. Very malty, bread & molasses, overripe banana, faint brandy nose. Fruity taste, grapes, tons of malt, with a bitterish peak, partly hops (but this is not a hoppy beer like dat leckere Droppke is). Again sweetish brandy but the hops/coloured malts take over any time. Flavours of green velvety leaves (vineleaf?) and bready flavours, bread soaked in a sweet brandy with brambles, copper, vinous. Very full bodied, a bit burning MF, very slick. Disconcerting, even the "usual" Sticke is very different. I’m not sure I really like this - well, I do, but I still chose the draught Alt at the tavern anytime. This is not an Altbier anymore. Disconstructing styles, I know. But the name of this thing exists. It is known as old ale . Which means more or less the same as Alt, but the requirements fit better...

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear brown with a reddish hue and a fine, creamy head. Lightly roasted malty with notes of caramel. But a sharp bitterness dominates this - almost too overpoweringly bitter. 080303

Dark cherry red color with a huge frothy off white head that stands like beaten egg whites. Caramel and toasted nut aroma. Well balanced sweetness and hop bitterness comes out in front and plays back and forth all the way through a long finish. Not as heavy as a Barleywine.

Bottle: Amber coloured, big fluffy head, sticking to the glass; besides some fruitiness caramel malts and floral hops in the nose; quite strong dry and bitter flavour; long lasting, very aromatic dry hoppy finish. Who likes first-class hops, will love this german Ale ! Extremely well quaffable, extremely moreish.......
