On the outskirts of Billund, just a stone's throw from the expansive Jutland heaths, lays Dansk Mjød. A traditional brewery which has brewed mead since 1994 on the basis of old recipes and with an uncompromising focus on quality and ingredients. It is the endless stories and myths about mead, which still inspire Dansk Mjød to create products that combine the ancient brew craft and tradition with a modern eye for quality and tastes.

700mL bottle, pours a clear a clear blonde with no head. Aroma is loaded with herbs, with heather, pine needles and subdued honey. Flavour is very cloying, with lots of herbal notes, especially heather and pine needles, and intense syrupy cloying sweetness. Herbal and sickly sweet. Anything but a complex, elegant mead, but it's pleasant.

26.02.2017, tap @ Taphouse:
No head, nice light golden color. Aroma is slightly sweet and fresh, sugar, honey, raisins, minerals, alcohol, oak, bark, old rope, citrus, caramelized sugar, cinnamon, spices, flowers, frozen cola ice sticks. Taste is slightly sweet and fresh, raisins, honey, caramelized sugar, minerals, alcohol, oak, cinnamon, flowers, bark, frozen cola ice sticks. Medium bitterness, slightly sweet mineraly mouthfeel. Nice. It actually kind of remind me a title bit of a young sherry / Madeira wine with the caramelized sweet fruitiness.

750mL bottle, pours a clear pale golden. Aroma brings out nice alcoholic notes, honey nectar, bandaid and some light floral notes. Flavour is very unusual, with lots of perfumey floral hops, light smoke, some licorice, and some nectar. A little phenolic, and there are some bandaid and plastic notes. Something rather off here.

Draft. An amber mead. The aroma has strong notes of alcohol, wood, and fruits? The flavor is very sweet with notes of alcohol, over ripe fruits, and wood, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. A bit overboard for me.

On tap at Belmont Station, pours a clear golden, no head. Aroma brings out lots of mulled wine, nectar and alcohol. Flavour is intensely sweet, with intense honey, nectar and alcohol. Both the sweetness and alcohol are intensely high, and bordering cloying, but it's a pleasure to drink such luxury.
