Bottle at home ... Nice copper colour ... slightly sweet malt ...sweet malt bit one dimensional little caramel little hop. but its let down by no depth otherwise tasty enough.

660ml bottle with a meal in Hythe. Straw with a white head; sweet and perfumed, with a strong hint of corn. Went well with a Jalfrezi, but not something to drink by itself

bottle. Copper colour, creamy head. Malty and fruity start, getting more and more hoppy and pleasantly bitter towards the finish an aftertaste. Pleasantly rounded by fruity flavours which remind me of lemon and orange.

bottle at an Indian restaurant in Dover. Golden colour, large head. Interesting smell, which I can’t really define. Malty and grainy, rather full-bodied, hints of rice. Very nice to accompany a curry.

500ml bottle from May’s Organic Store in Lewes. Bottle conditioned ale. Copper colour with lasting beige head. Bit bland on aroma, some spritzyness in mouth. Decent hop malt balance. Very good acidic hop finish, which coats the gums. It’s and English bitter, slightly hoppier than most.

500 bottle from Cask & Glass, Tonbridge. I saw the previous year’s offering in the clear glass 660 bottle that Chris_o had in an off licence in Brighton and wished I bought it, so when I saw this I had to buy it. Reddish copper colour with lasting off white head. It does smell of christmas cake, malty with dried fruits. alcohol and hops (ok hops aren’t in christmas cake), Full in mouth, alcohol kick comes through in the end. Lots of tea and tobacco, more dried/burnt fruit too. I love it. More dry malt and dry peppery hop on finish. The hops, the malt, the alcohol all go to make this one of the best UK beers I’ve had. It is extraordinary. It really does assault the senses.

Cask @ The Roebuck, Hampton Hill (London). Golden color with lasting white head. Aroma of yeast and hops, flowers. Hoppy dryness in the fininsh. Easy drinking

Bottled. Golden, almost copper colour, small white head. Aroma is British hops, malts and quite much floweryness. Flavour is sweet malts with hoppy filling finish.
