A rich unfiltered golden caramel hue and a poignant nose, featuring caramel malt, booze and pithy hops. This is a massive BW with all the element I appreciate - a rich toffee malt body, fresh piney hops, a hint of nuts and popping dark berries. Apricots are lingering down there too. The flavours blend well, but are distinct and fresh. The body is appropriately rich and thick and the soft carbonation helps support this luxurious barley wine.

The 2014 version is really a unique, great accomplishment in the IIPA category. The taste profile features some powerful hop-based tastes - orange rind, orange marmalade, Cointreau and some grapefruit. Like any great beer there are counterbalances, including a solid malt backbone and some spices. A rich, thick body complements the taste profile as does a mild to medium effervescence level. Among the best.

a: pretty hazy golden body | large fast-dying off-white head
a: tart pineapple (duh!) | clean wheat | soft lactose
f: soured guava | cream | hibiscus at end
t: icing sugar | sour candy | one-dimensional
o: about expected | funky throughout | not-an-IPA and too artificial for a sour...interesting!

Xmas miracle 2022 bottle shared at "Johnny's got a new place" beer celebration. Opaque jet black color, small brown colored head. Aroma and flavor are malts, sweetish, light cocos / coconut, quite boozy, yet solidly drinkable.

16 oz. can from Total Wine. Pours a pitch black color with a dark tan head and decent retention. Zero lacing. Very dark roasted aroma. Very dark roasted flavor too, with some faint coffee and molasses notes in the dry finish. Medium light weak body. Light carbonation. Light bitterness. Good, not great.

Pours hazy brownish-purplish with a half finger off-white head that settles into a ring quickly. Aroma is very much Grape Crush or grape flavored Nerds candy. Taste is highly sour (8/10) and fairly sweet with flavors of grape soda and sour grape candy.
