Bottle @ Don’t want anything to do with carnaval tasting. Clear yellow to light golden color, average sized white head. Smell and taste malts, quite hoppy, lightly yeasty, moderately bitter. Quite nice hoppy blond. Decent body and carbonation. Decent beer.

Hazy amber colour, white foam. Sweet nose of citrus and lychee. Bitter hoppy finish. Bit thin but drinkable and balance is ok.

At Maakun’s. Not so sexy bottle pours cloudy pale golden beer with white head. Gumball coating, banana, orange flavored tea with lots of sugar, biscuits, toast, oil, milk, yeast. Taste is very sweet with moderate bitter counterpart. Body is medium with oily texture. Thin dry bitter finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Honderd / 100 - on 21 Nov 2017 at 13:37 - Score: 6. Original review text: 2.9

Bottle shared at home. Slight hazy light golden with big white head. Sweet dried fruits, light bready yeast, light sour gooseberries, sugary grains, light marzipan and bubblegum. Medium sweet with light tart touch and a lingering not so pleasant bitter finish. Medium bodied. Weird aftertaste and just not very good.

The blonde one in this new series of so-called "Limburg abbey beers", with a label referring to both the Belgian abbey beer tradition and the cheekiness of many Belgian labels - so not very original to say the least. Medium thick, egg-white, moussy head retaining well on the edges and in thin ’islands’ in the middle; deep and warm ’old gold’ colour, clear with some sparkling here and there, hazy with deposit. Aroma of mouldy lemon, sour apple, unripe gooseberry, banana, raw pineapple, a hint of urine or stale sweat probably coming from the hops, white grape peel, granadilla, freshly cut sorrel and nettles, sweetbread, yellow kiwi. Fruity, estery onset, strong sourish green and yellow fruit, pineapple, green banana, gooseberry, kiwi, green apple, spritzy carbo but not overcarbonated, smooth and lean pale malt sweetishness, a bit bready with a lightly caramelly edge, spicy notes on top leading to a dry finish of spicy, earthy, floral and mildly citrusy hop bitterness well in balance with the juicy malt sweetishness; I get a vague presence of gin-like alcohol as well, a bit more so than should be the case in a beer of this strength. Needs a more up to date and less cliché label I think, but the beer itself is interesting, relatively clean and surely a lot more (aromatically and ’contemporary’) hoppy than what most consumers will expect from a blonde Belgian abbey ale. Not bad at all.
