750 ml. bottle sampled @ Rampkrot Tasting. Hazy golden, creamy off-white head. Nose is cheap honey, oxidation, dull & boring sugary with some cheap cognac / brandy I suppose, light plastic, some oak vanilla, a bit akin to a basic sugary & old tripel. Taste is plastic, dull oxidized tripel, boring sugar, vanilla, cheap honey & lots of cheap sugar sweetness, caramel, wood, cheap cognac / brandy. Thinned. Tastes like a heavy, old very sugary oxidized tripel with some cheap booze. Basic sugar. Quite disappoing.

Bottle thnx to Eugene. Pours unclear blonde. Small white head. Smell is sweet, honey, Taste is bitter, very yeasty. Some wood as well as honey aspects. Don’t really get the brandy though

Very strong Zonderik beer with thick, beige, dense head and near black colour. Aroma of peanuts, coffee grounds, bitter chocolate, bayleaf, cocoa, a hint of pipe tobacco, raisins, dried leaves, red wine, banana, some iron but not disturbing. Full, rich taste with medium carb, candied date and dried plum but not too sweet, nutty and caramelly, thickly layered maltiness with a retronasal coffee accent, a bit iron-like and chocolatey in the end, vinous and somewhat powdery mouthfeel, spicy hoppiness in the finish along with rhum-like warming alcohol. Potent brew, a slow sipper indeed, but comes closer to an imperial stout than to a barley wine... I guess it can be typified as an undetermined Belgian ’massieve ale’ with traits of both classic Anglo-Saxon styles. Very enjoyable, in any case - at least at this temperature, I cannot imagine drinking something like this at 65° C, which is apparently another option if the brewer’s intentions are to be followed...

330 ml. bottle. Purchased @ De Hopduvel. BBF 27/04/17. Hazy golden, small white. Nose is strongly bitter, medicinal & heavy floral hop bitterness, raw bitter, faint honey sweetness (possibly the corn which is an ingredient), heavy bitterness, light acohol. Heavily bitterness, surprisingly so, very harsh floral bitterness, some medicinal hop bitterness, esters, touch grain alcohol, faint fruits in the back, esters, light heavy bitter grass. Clean, medicinal, heavily bitterness,… Daring & interesting. The name & label are both awful but keeps releasing interesting & good beers Zonderik / Columbus Management. Like these guys safe for two misfires. Heavy medicinal bitterness quality of this can be potentially divisive but I found it to be quite interesting.

330 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ De Hopduvel. BBF 04/06/17. The label is horribly tacky. Ingredients list both candy sugar & licorice,…. Uhmmm. Hops are Columbus, Equinox & Belgian Challanger. Odd. Pours deep brownish amber, very small tanned head. Nose intensely heavy of spices, cloves, cardamom, licorice mixed with herbal hops, light pine, quite odd but interesting for sure. Taste is bit thin, toffee, butterscotch mixed with cloves, strong herbs, leaves, cardamom, licorice – the actual wood stuff, spices are strong in the finish with light metallic notes, big leaves, faint almost Chai tea. Herbal & lightly metallic finish, heavy lives, light pine. Oily, touch thin, butterscotch butter, lightly metallic. Very unique & interesting even if not entirely to my taste. Quite something. Rather fascinating.

A brown yellow beer, a head is dense, clouding, big and blond. Aroma has fruitness and lemon, strong spicyness. Taste is strongly spicy and peppery, lemon and fruitness, hint of coriander, also bitterness in the end. Medium+ bodied, smooth carbonation. Personal with the complex spicyness.

Bottled. Amber colour, mediumsized slightly off-white head. Aroma is bready and toffeeish malts, some mild spices and yeast along with quite a floral, grassy and herbal take on it. Flavour is quite similar, but quite bread and yeast dominated with a quite big bitterness to it.

Golden colour, white head. Aroma of apple, malts, light funk, green apple, wood, calvados and lemon zest. Quite sweet flavour, apple, honey. Sweet malty finish, apple, wood, yeast.
