On tap @ BierCab. This is a big off-white headed one with a deep golden cloudy body. At first the aroma is kinda soft due to the massive head, but after a while I get tones of sweet candy, apples, biscuity malts and a little bit of alcohol. Quite nice, and it tastes really nice. It has this lovely smooth mouth feel and it's soft and prickling on the carbonation bubbles. A little candy sweet, lots of sweet red plums, grapes and it's definitely not to bitter. There's also a little apple acidity or sourness if you'd like and traces of banana almond crepe. A kinda mellow, yet really flavorful and smooth one that I quite enjoyed. 11.08.2014

Note ; previous rating here by me was a mistake and was for the brown variant . now rating this one , so its not an updated rating, this is actual first rating . Pours warm blonde, orange glow. Good white head that lasts long . Smell is tad sweet , some grains . But mostly very gentle and soft ( balanced ) Taste is bitter , some slightly, almost metallic sharpness . Some balanced sweetness in the back . Perfect carbo . The previously mentionned sharpness, lasts into a funky-sweet-unique taste which I really dig . The drinkability in this one is extreme . Prob one of the 1 % tripels withoud a shitload of overcarbonation, ánd with a balanced taste that is sweet, yet not sugary . Its been a long time that ( if I have ever ) was this happy with a tripel ( that has not been hopped like an IPA or spiced like a white , etc ) . Basic, but very nice . Tripels never will go superhigh in my ratings, but this deserves a well-earned 100 % on style . I do not taste like 50 % of the ingredients in the description ( honey, sugar , oak ,.... ) but I guess that is because they are blended in in such a beautifull way , I guess . Very nice surprise !

Bottle At Barely Legal Tasting Room . Note ; Previously rated mistakingly under the blonde variation . Moved rating 1 month after , when I finally realized this . Pours dark brown , with a bordeaux glow. good yet fast fading white head . Smell is dark malts, bit sweet , complex, earthy , Taste is bit bitter, some sweetness . interesting flavors in the back ( would have liked them more up front ) like dark fruits, hop bitter ( the bitterness that dominates the taste is not really hoppy per se ) an almost chocolaty finish- yet not completely . The taste is a bit comparable to chocolate, but it is different . Maybe one of those descibed ingredients that I dont really know ? Ok to nice beer . bit ordinary cause the special tastes are way to much hidden in the back .

Typical Belgian brown beer. Yeasty and quite malty, with the usual fruits and herbs. It’s nice and enjoyable, but far from original.

Dark brown beer, white foam. Medium carbonation. Aroma of light roasted malts with dry fruit, liquorice and brown sugar. Sweet with light bitter aftertaste. Bit unbalanced.
