Description
Life's too short for boring, middle of the road beers. Craft Brewery Kees! stands for tasty, fruity, hoppy flavours and strong dark ales, but there'll always be that 'twist' . That special 'something' that make his beers stand out.
Owner and brewer Kees Bubberman started his brewing career in 2007 at Emelisse, a small regional brewery in Kamperland, Zeeland. Within a couple of years Emelisse became a household name among craft breweries worldwide, thanks to the by British and American beer styles inspired ales, IPA's, strong porters, stouts that Kees Bubberman brewed. Never afraid of trying something new and relying on his experience as a restaurant chef he created more than 30 new beers, including an IPA with Earl Grey tea, barrel aged porters en stouts and strong porters and stouts with coffee. Kees was ahead of his time with experimental flavours like these.
In 2014 Kees Bubberman decided to start his own brewery in his hometown Middelburg. Thankful for the opportunities Emelisse gave him, he felt that it was time to go his own way. Brewery Kees! started in January 2015 and within a year his delicious IPA's, strong porters, Russian Imperial stouts and barrel aged barley wines, porters en stouts found their way in the (beer-)world.
Kees keeps on creating new beers and searching for new tastes, sometimes following and sometimes setting trends.

CBJ tasting, thanks to me for the can. Near clear deep amber beer, tidy tan head. Smooth and mildly viscous palate, modest fine carbonation. Soft caramel malts, good malt cream. Ripe fruits and estery sweetness. Modest bourbon barrel, a little vanilla and some decent bourbon soaked ripe fruits. A modest alcohol spice on the mildly dry finish. A tasty and rich BA quad.

(Draught at Het Lagerhuys, Amsterdam, 13 Aug 2025) Golden colour with creamy, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with grapefruit, pine needles and pineapple. Fruity taste with notes of tropical fruit, citrus, pineapple, apricots, papaya, pine needles, white bread and a balanced citric/piney bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Rich, hoppy and juicy. Very nice.

Can. Very dark. Riwn, almost no head. Vanilla, fudge, chocolate, blackberries, earthy, dry oak, soft scotch, dried plums. Over medium sweet, medium bitter, very light sour. Bit thin body, almost flat. Bit dry finish. Much less creamy and full than other versions I've tried but tastes quite OK.

75cl bottle @ Belgian Beer Geeks Autumn Gathering 2025. Pours a slightly unclear deep mahogany amber, beige head. Plenty of boozy bourbon here complimented by soothing vanilla and chocolate with a long bitter close.. Pretty good.. went well with traditional Flemish vlaai made by Bieridder!

18/X/25 - 75cl bottle @ BBGG Fall ‘25 (home), BB: XII/30 (2025-1048) Thanks to Siegfried for sharing the bottle!
Clear dark brown beer, no head. Aroma: nice, malty, alcohol, lots of overripe banana, pretty oxidized, gentle roast, very yeasty, caramel, sweet and sugary impression, a little oxidized. Smells more like a quad than a barley wine TBH. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very sugary, alcohol, sweet, caramel, more alcohol, bitter touch, oxidized, earthy notes, yeasty, banana, blueberry jam. Aftertaste: still pretty sweet and sugary, lots of alcohol, more blueberry jam, very yeasty, overripe banana, sugary, decent but not really a barley wine?
