Life's too short for boring, middle of the road beers. Craft Brewery Kees! stands for tasty, fruity, hoppy flavours and strong dark ales, but there'll always be that 'twist' . That special 'something' that make his beers stand out.

Owner and brewer Kees Bubberman started his brewing career in 2007 at Emelisse, a small regional brewery in Kamperland, Zeeland. Within a couple of years Emelisse became a household name among craft breweries worldwide, thanks to the by British and American beer styles inspired ales, IPA's, strong porters, stouts that Kees Bubberman brewed. Never afraid of trying something new and relying on his experience as a restaurant chef he created more than 30 new beers, including an IPA with Earl Grey tea, barrel aged porters en stouts and strong porters and stouts with coffee. Kees was ahead of his time with experimental flavours like these.

In 2014 Kees Bubberman decided to start his own brewery in his hometown Middelburg. Thankful for the opportunities Emelisse gave him, he felt that it was time to go his own way. Brewery Kees! started in January 2015 and within a year his delicious IPA's, strong porters, Russian Imperial stouts and barrel aged barley wines, porters en stouts found their way in the (beer-)world.

Kees keeps on creating new beers and searching for new tastes, sometimes following and sometimes setting trends.

[9/23/15] Draught at Craft & Draft in Amsterdam. Dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of roast and “green” and piney hops. Roasty bitter flavor with piney hops. Medium-bodied.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, unreadable bottle dating on the cap. Pours nearly pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, floral, grass, and floral/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/piney hops and roast/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, floral, grass, and floral/roasted earthiness. Moderate amount of pine and roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, and floral/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/piney hops and roast/bready malt flavors; with a great bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice black IPA style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/piney hops and roast/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Slightly hazy golden colour, large loose foamy white head, good retention and lacing. Fruity aroma, orange, tangerine, lime, starfruit, some barnyard, grass. Taste medium bitter, light sweet, fruity. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, aftertaste fruity dry bitter, citrusy, unusual yet pleasant ale.

4 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey. Dark brownish black with light tan head. Aromas of roasty notes, licorice, chocolate. Tastes of roasty notes, yeast, chocolate, light booze. Medium-light body with a dry finish.

Clear mahogany brown colour. Balanced very well. There’s a pleasant level of malts and sweetness. Also a moderate hop bitterness in the finish.

Black. Aroma is very smokey and peaty. Flavour is also rather smokey and a bit acrid. A bit of raw alcohol too.
