4 February 2026. At Gekroonde Hoofden Mariakerke. Shared with the lovely Anke!
A: hazy dark brown-black, stable, foamy, beige head.
A: brown bread, chestnut, toast, raisin, liquorice.
T: sweetish raisin, brown bread, liquorice, toast.
F: herbal hops, bitter toast, faint coffee roast.
P: medium body, moussy texture, average carbonation.
Nothing extraordinary, but pairs well with the famous spare ribs and I'm pleasantly surprised that the restaurant picked Contreras instead of a typical commercial giant like Huyghe or Van Steenberge. Cheers to that, and I'll have to revisit soon to try the blonde.

Donkerbruin toto zwart bier met mooi stevig schuim. Smaak is zoet en licht bitter met iets van bittere chocolade, wat karamel, kandij en wat donker fruit. Heel fijn bier.

Donkergeel bier met schuiom wat snel wegzakt. Smaak is bitter hoppig met iets van gras, wat hout, brett en wat citrus. Een bier met een echt saison karakter.
