Description
110 years of Contreras in a 190 year old brewery. In 1818 Brewery Latte was founded as a typical farm-brewery. In the second half of the 19th century the company was led by Valère Latte who sold the brewery in 1898 to René Contreras. In 1920 René Contreras chose to sell his brewery to his nephew Marcel Contreras. it was Marcel who would transform the brewery into a modern 20th century company. He shaped the buildings as they currently still remain. In 1982 Marcel's son Willy became the sole manager of the brewery. At the start of the 21st century Ann Contreras, the only daughter of Willy Contreras, and her fiancée Frederik De Vrieze gradually took over the daily management of the brewery.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. Hazy orange, uneven creamy white head. Esters, perfume, candy sugar, alcohol, faint bitter herbal flower. Sweet sugar, marmalade, orange rind, candy sugar, light honey, plenty of perfume, flower, light faint flower / herbal hops in the back. Candy sugar & orange rind body. Pretty simple, lacking nuances, taste is lots of candy sugar mainly but quite enjoyable all the same.

33 cl. draft @ Mombasa. Clear dark amber, vanishing head. Sweet caramel, orange peel, candy sugar nose, bit sticky, light flowery hops that don’t jell & bit metallic nature that takes it down. Sweet sticky candy sugar, orange peel nature, bit metal-like, whole messes with bitter hop flowers, very dry, touch flower, bit metallic. Metallic & sticky, touch lighter, quite dry. Not bad at all but inharmonious & not all there.
