Description
110 years of Contreras in a 190 year old brewery. In 1818 Brewery Latte was founded as a typical farm-brewery. In the second half of the 19th century the company was led by Valère Latte who sold the brewery in 1898 to René Contreras. In 1920 René Contreras chose to sell his brewery to his nephew Marcel Contreras. it was Marcel who would transform the brewery into a modern 20th century company. He shaped the buildings as they currently still remain. In 1982 Marcel's son Willy became the sole manager of the brewery. At the start of the 21st century Ann Contreras, the only daughter of Willy Contreras, and her fiancée Frederik De Vrieze gradually took over the daily management of the brewery.

Draught at ZBF08. Clear golden colour, good stable white head. Very clean flavour, good refreshing citric fruitiness. Low to medium bitterness.

Bottle at ZBF08. Fruity, dusty, refreshing hop aroma. Hazy golden colour, small white head. The flavour is slighty sweet and perfumy. Some yeast. Clean bitterness. 6 3 7 3 14

Draught at ZBF09. Weak fruity aroma. Cloudy yellow colour. Small white head. The flavour has some good hoppiness. Not as hoppy as advertised, but nice enough. Grassy hoppiness, only a tiny hint of caramel. Ends with a very tiny hint of hop bite. 7 3 7 3 15

Bottle, 6.5%. Weak fart aroma, OK hop notes. Hazy yellow colour. OK stable white head. The flavour is hoppy, but not as much as in the aroma. 6 3 6 3 13

ZBF08. Weak white bread aroma. Clear golden colour. Nice big stable, creamy white head. Tastes a bit like Caffrey’s or some boring Irish cream ale. Not offensive of course, but not exciting either. Creamy mouthfeel. Soft to medium carbonation. Malty, sweet finish. 6 3 6 3 13

Bottle, 4.8%. Cloudy brown colour, no head. Very bready aroma and flavour. Oxidized. No BB date. Bad. 3 3 3 3 3

Bottled (BB 04/2009)
Orange hazy color, small white head. Grassy, a bit papery, hoppy nose. Medium-bodied. Grassy hoppyness, some fruity notes. Good malt profile, very chewy. A bit sweet, crisp and nice.

ZBF2008: From bottle. Pours clear golden yellow with a dense white head. Mild spice of coriander and ginger. Flavour is ginger spiced, mild wheaty and light caramel malt flavour. Ends with a lingering spice note and a mild bitterness. From at Ørsted this was unfiltered and hazy to murky yellow with a dense and creamy white head. Light wheaty and subdued coriander spiced aroma. Bubblegum and wheaty flaoured with a pronounced bitterness. Mild citric to floral flavoured finish with a light yeasty base flavour.

ZBF2008: From tap. Pours golden and clear orange with a lacing white head. Light pilsner malty aroma, mild spice note. Vague sweetness with a light fruity note at first. Goes into a more bitter and dry flavour with subdued spice notes. Ends light spiced.

ZBF2008: From bottle. Pours hazy brown with a lacing tan head. Mild yeast spiced and caramel malt. Flavour is mellow yeasty, lightly spiced at first and goes into a mild roasted malt flavour. Gains more spice and bitterness towards the finish.

ZBF2008: From bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a lacing white head. Vague hoppy aroma. Flavour is somewhat watery pale lager like, shows a medium bitterness towards the finish. Mellow yeasty finish.

ZBF2008: From tap. Pours hazy orange with a dense and white head. Light spiced and caramel malt aroma. Flavour is mildly sweetend and with a mellow yeast note mixed with a light spice note. Quite well balanced and smooth. Ends with a lingering smooth mix of the flavours.

2008 Zythos Bier Festival, Belgium. Spicy, grassy aroma. Great balanced taste that is fresh and flavoursome with just a hint of sweetness coming through at the end.
