Description
110 years of Contreras in a 190 year old brewery. In 1818 Brewery Latte was founded as a typical farm-brewery. In the second half of the 19th century the company was led by Valère Latte who sold the brewery in 1898 to René Contreras. In 1920 René Contreras chose to sell his brewery to his nephew Marcel Contreras. it was Marcel who would transform the brewery into a modern 20th century company. He shaped the buildings as they currently still remain. In 1982 Marcel's son Willy became the sole manager of the brewery. At the start of the 21st century Ann Contreras, the only daughter of Willy Contreras, and her fiancée Frederik De Vrieze gradually took over the daily management of the brewery.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color with a white head. Aroma is skunky and harvest. Taste is a water grain. Not a lot of substance to talk about.

Bottled. Clear golden, minimal head. cardboardy nose with a bit of apples. Light bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Suffering from lack of hops that can hide the shortcomings in the malt department and the unclean fruitiness. A dull pale lager, though I’d guess it’s top feremented.

Bottled. Hazy golden, fair sized head. Aroms of oraneg and licorice. Dry and hoppy with clean mouthfeel. Strongotes of almondy yeast and black currant. Strikingly bitter finish.Whatr it lacks in malt depth is recovered by the wealth of hop and yeast flavours.

Bottle from Dranken Geers. Clear gold if you don’t pour the yeast in. Thick white head. Strong blond beer in the Duvel style. Decent hops. Bit more yeast character than Duvel. Good stuff.

Tap. Cloudy yellow with a beautiful lasting white head. Odd aroma mix of herbs and cookies. Similarly the flavour is sweet cookies and bubblegum with an unpleasant herbal note.

Bottle. A clear, ruby beer with a big, beige head. Yeast clouds. Dried fruits, dark berries, a spicy touch and some yeast in the aroma. Dark sugars, a little spicyness and herbal bitterness, as well as dried and fresh fruits in the mouth. Full-bodied, rather sweetish with a nice carbonation level. Some alcohol warmth too. Bitter, spiced finsih. A classic belgian, pleasant and balanced on the sweet side. (080731)
