Keg at antique shop in Chiswick. It pours cloudy golden with a medium foamy white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, floral, grassy, doughy bread and straw. The taste is firmly dry, bitter, grassy, floral, toasty grain, soapy vibes, peppery spice and straw with a floral finished. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A bit too soapy for me to be honest. Fair.

The taste is crisp, dry, bitter, floral, doughy white bread, daisies, meadowsweet, touch of spice, grass and spice. Medium body and fine carbonation. Impressive stuff for a golden ale. A delight to drink in the sun.

Cask @ Salopian, the pub. Pours pale gold, white head. Aroma has whispers of citrus. Taste had initial light citrus, vaguely sweet pale malt but unfortunately things take a turn for the worse and i detect vomit on the finish. Very bizarre, so i leave for a few minutes and carry on conversation, take another sip and vomit appears once again. Others did not pick this up, though the Salopian i had just before this was fine. Could not finish im afraid.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours deep brown with a fairly dense, frothy beige head. The nose holds burnt coffee, dark chocolate, molasses. Medium sweet flavour with some ashy roast, bitter baking cocoa, scorched earth, espresso, raisins, a slight metallic note. Medium bodied, lightly oily, with massaging carbonation. Finishes with more bitter ash and baking cocoa, more earth, dark chocolate, undertones of dried fruits. Not bad overall.

Handpull cask at the Cornubia, Bristol. Dark brown, slightly translucent. A bit of off-white head dotted around. Malty smell with notes of coffee and milk chocolate. Sweet taste, malt-led, with more chocolate and hints of Marmite. An astringent off-note, as well as a watery body, spoils the experience a bit right at the finish. Not the best stout out there.
