Bottle: Copper to light amber coloured, small off-white head, sticking to the glass; fruity (raisins) and caramelly nose, faint aromas of roasted malts; slightly malty, quite dry flavour, rather light bodied; fruity and malty finish with a distinctive, almost aromatic, bitterness in the end. Not bad, not unpleasant, maybe a bit too "light"...............

2011-02-23, as Duckstein Rotblondes Original, 6-4-5-2-11=28
Light amber color, clean; medium sized creamy head. Light aroma of dust, caramel, wood. Correct mouthfeel, with a semi-dry caramel flavor, and a dusty impression; correct bitterness. Unimpressive.

2005-09-13, 4-3-6-3-11= 27
Golden color. Aroma of wet malt and corn. Some malt taste, medium body, caramel, bold bitterness, metallic aftertaste.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Gold/copper colour with no head to speak of. Chocolately malts and spice aromas. Bit metallic in mouth, bit dead. Then good choc finish with spicy hop. Alright but it would be better as a live beer.

(Bottle 50 cl) My label claims it’s made by Holsten Brauerei, but it’s all Carlsberg anyway. Reddish amber with a pretty, dense head. Very malty with some slightly smoked notes. Soft and lightly caramelish with a hoppy finish. Matured in wooden vats. Nice brew. 050400

Bottled. Copper coloured with mediumsized foamish head, which disappears quite quickly. Lacing. Fruity and woody aroma with some bitter tones. Sweetish malty taste with hints of hops. Aftertaste is smoky/roasted. Pretty dry finish.

Brought by a friend from Germany. The only beer she brought me I knew nothing about. When I saw that it would be my first alt, I was overjoyed. But, that didn’t last long. Pours a beautiful orange/copper colour, small but persistant head. Very carbonated. Not much of an aroma, caramel maybe. Fruity malt dominates the flavor. Some hops. The aftertaste is strong roasted malt. Not as bad as I thought it was yesterday.

Bottled (BB 06/2005)
Amber brown color with decent creamy brownish head, lace. Aroma has wood - maybe it is that beech - calvados and toffee. Woody hops in very altbier-like palate, good hoppy aftertaste. Caramel notes. (7/4/6/3/14 3.4)
Re-rate, bottle 4.9 % (BB 11/2005)
Amber-orange color, small tanned head. Woody nose. Malty, oaky flavor. Dry and slightly earthy aftertaste. (5/4/6/3/13 3.1)
