Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a crystal clear light yellow colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, light citrus fruits. The flavour is light sweet and bitter, with a light, watery, light malt, lemon citrus, light hop bitter palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Tasty but way too light for me.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a pale straw with a small white head and good lacing. The nose has malts, grains and a pinch of honey. In the mouth it is sweet and malty. Initially there is a fruity twist with apricots and apples, but this gives way to some gentle floral hoppiness with herbs and hints of ginger. Finish is fruity and slightly dry. This is decent. Personally I wouldn’t vcall it a bitter, but I suppose it is fairly similar to Bathams “sugar water”.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a pale greenish straw, with a small foamy white head and good lacing. Slow to settle but does so eventually. Not much of an aroma, just some vague caramel. In the mouth it is light and sweet with malts, biscuits, and a little lemon. Later on some citrus makes itself known, with hints of yeast and grapefruit. Sweetness carries through into the finish. This is rather nice – much better than I expected.

Hand-pulled half-pint at Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, Oakengates on 20th July 2022. Very pale golden body, clean and clear; smooth white foam on top that gave some good lacing. Citrussy with a solid malt base, first beer of the day, good start.
