Description

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours clear copper with a creamy, khaki topping. Light-medium sweet flavour with notes of toasted caramel, bready malts, a little earthy hop, crackers, biscuits. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Nice toasted biscuit and caramel finish, a little leafy bitterness, bready all around, a hint of chocolate. Really pleasant.

Notes from March 2011 Stout season is over. Hooray beer! 11.2oz bottle from Good Beer. Poured into a Carlsberg Pils glass. Pasty, off-white head. It comes to rest as a permanent dollop of cream atop my beer. Uniform spackle. Clear, pale, golden body. Smells of caramelized Euro malt & a light zest of minty/herbal/metallic hops. Bit mundane. Taste is sweet like low salt Ritz crackers. Halfway in is a spot of herbal hops that turn more irony as they linger. Empty finish. Dainty little thing. Watery. ABV is really suspect. Carbonation is soft & lacking. Probably the lightest Helles I've ever had. Not crisp enough to drink in quantity. Too light to bother to import. :/

Half liter draft at the source, Munich, Germany. Pours a crystal clear caramel color with a tight beige head and excellent retention. Great lacing too, Faint dark malt aroma. Super clean and smooth dark malt flavor. Not as much caramel malt flavor as I expected based on the looks. Mostly dark malt, not overly sweet. Medium body and medium-light carbonation. Zero bitterness. Classic beer. Prost!

500 ml bottle from Bier Temple, in Linz, Austria. Pours a crystal clear yellow color with a large white head and excellent retention. Great lacing too. Lots of streaming bubbles. Standard pale malt aroma. The taste follows the nose: Pale malt flavor with a hint of bread in the finish. Super smooth and clean. Medium body and medium, lively carbonation. Not bitter. A very well made, yet basic lager. Very repeatable. Prost!

Bottle from Beer Shop Hitchin. Bit of an insipid colour in the glass, but a good and well balanced malt and hops flavour. But a bit insipid overall.
