Description
Steel City Brewing is a brewing company with a very new world outlook on life! Rather than buying our own brewery - with all the associated cost and hassle that entails - we have decided, initially at least, to become what's known in Europe as a "Cuckoo" brewery... We started off doing our first brews at The Brew Company, before capacity issues saw us move to Little Ale Cart, where we spent three years proving even the most Heath-Robinson brew kit can be used to make good beer! We then outgrew the kit moved to Toolmakers brewery, before moving again to Lost Industry in 2016.

When we started we were (and still are) huge fans of hops and there just weren't enough brewers in the UK using them, even though that sounds ridiculous in today's beer world. So, rather than moaning into our beer, we thought we'd do something about it and brew some of our own! Over time as the beer scene evolved, there was less need for our style of hoppy beers since everyone was brewing with them so we evolved too and widened our style portfolio.

Bottle kindly given to me by Gazza whilst he was in London. Pale gold clear, slight haze, thin layer of white bubbles. Attractive citrus hop aroma. Lemon and satsuma aroma. Quite earthy in mouth, some esters, bit of yeastiness. Good hoppy wheat beer. Bit of German style. Quite dirty earthy in the swallow with the hops. More citrus lemon satsuma all way through. Pleasant bitterness that lasts on the finish. Pretty decent fellas. Quite clean in the malts. Tasty citrusy finish is very pleasant especially that finishing bitterness.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol 8/8/2012. Slightly hazy gold with a short-lived white head. Aroma of citrus fruits, clove and grassy hops. Flavour had a yeasty edge, with more stone fruits, spices and a dryish finish. Drinkable.

Cask-conditioned at the Three tuns, Bristol. Medium brown with a tight, off-white head. Aroma of berry fruits, a touch of orange, roasty malts and leafy hops. Easy drinking, with plenty more summer fruits, turkish delight and a gentle finish. Excellent low ABV beer.

Cask at the Euston Tap, London. Pours clear, rich gold with a medium, foamy white head. Has a piney hop nose with lightly toasted malts. Very light sweet flavor with toasty malts, light toasty leaves, some berry fruits. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately dry on the finish with toasted leaves and grass, some dried berries, toast. Exceptional low ABV stuff.

On tap @ Craft Beer c.o, London. This is a blurry straw-yellow-golden one with a small lacing white head. The aroma has citrus tones mixed with grapefruit, melon, yeasty hints and some zesty things. Smells quite alright - not extreme. It's soft to average carbonated, small prickling bubbles and it has a mild oily texture. The taste is definitely a bit fruity, I get melon flavors here, strawberries and malts. A nice bitterness in the finish before it's leaving a light dry feeling in my mouth. There is also a heather-sweetness lurking in the background . Could be honey, but hard to tell. Tasty, and easy drinking. 21.07.2012
