Description
Steel City Brewing is a brewing company with a very new world outlook on life! Rather than buying our own brewery - with all the associated cost and hassle that entails - we have decided, initially at least, to become what's known in Europe as a "Cuckoo" brewery... We started off doing our first brews at The Brew Company, before capacity issues saw us move to Little Ale Cart, where we spent three years proving even the most Heath-Robinson brew kit can be used to make good beer! We then outgrew the kit moved to Toolmakers brewery, before moving again to Lost Industry in 2016.
When we started we were (and still are) huge fans of hops and there just weren't enough brewers in the UK using them, even though that sounds ridiculous in today's beer world. So, rather than moaning into our beer, we thought we'd do something about it and brew some of our own! Over time as the beer scene evolved, there was less need for our style of hoppy beers since everyone was brewing with them so we evolved too and widened our style portfolio.

Black, near flat, seems quite thick. Smell is sour, almond, cherry. Body is heavy, low carbed. Taste is lightly sour, the almond is clearly there and softens it up. Cherry present as well, which almost always work with sour beers. After 2 misses, a hit!

Black, flat. Smells slightly sour with something biscuitty in it, hint of ammonia. Unpleasant. Taste is sour, dry, not much passion fruit to be found. Not as bas as the smell, but not really pleasant tasting either. Dead, shame.

High pressure can. Pours black, some soda carb. Smell is odd, real vegetal, reminding me of water cress. Light body for the ABV. Taste is damn weird, sharp sour with again that water cress. No bright lime at all. Some slight chocolate at the end. Mneh.

Bottle. Beer Central Sheffield. Murked up deep red amber. Fine off white head. Nose has sour yeasty bread. Sour fruit. Some wine dregs. Taste has a bready sweetness. Turns dry and light sour. Slightly dull mouthfeel with low carbonation. Sour and fruity finish. Feels a bit less than fresh.

High pressure can, no gusher. Poors black, soda carbonation. Smell is sour, less sharp than base, getting some rum raisins. Surprisingly smooth, no sharpness at all. Taste is sweetish raisiny rum firstz followed by that sourness they all have, ending rum.

Can. Beer Central Sheffield. Deep chestnut brown. Moderate haze. Slimmest ring of head. Nose has sour cherry. Old oak. Cigar leaf. Red wine dregs. Leather. Background notes of dark chocolate and caramel. Taste has a semi sweet balsamic tartness. Some vinous bitterness. The drinkability for a 13.7% beer is properly impressive. Fine brisk carbonation. Big red wine finish. Solid gear.

High pressure. Black, near flat, some trace off-white head. Smells lots of tonka, some acidity. Decent body, some sharp sourness. Taste is..odd. Has that same citrussy sourness as 1, but with loads of tonka suikerbrood. Very weird, but not unpleasant.
