750ml pours with a dark mahogany colored body that supports a tan head. The aroma offers up sweet dark fruity esters, chocolate notes, some malt balls and a touch of booze. The taste delivers smooth spicy chocolate malts blended with thin dark roasted malts. It gets a little more spicy toward the finish. Nice.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/27/2017. Pours fairly hazy golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy grapefruit, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus zest, white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, and cracker; with light leathery/musty funk, oaken vanilla, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, fruits, wine barrel, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy/tart/tangy grapefruit, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus zest, white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, and cracker; with light leathery/musty funk, oaken vanilla, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and yeast/wine tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour/tangy grapefruit, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus zest, white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, leathery/musty funk, light vanilla/pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, fruits, wine barrel, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/sourness and tangy fruit balance; with minimal puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and yeast/wine tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.2%. Overall this is an awesome fruited sour/wild ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, fruits, wine barrel, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and pretty refreshing to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Awesome juicy/tangy fruit presence with great well rounded Brett/Lacto complexity; nice wine barrel presence and pale/wheat malt backbone. Never overly lactic. A really enjoyable offering and spot on style example.

2017 vintage. 16 oz. can from Beercraft. Starts out with a normal enough pour, Dark brown with a small ring of head. Aroma brings the peaty smells, with a hint of ash and smoke. Taste amps up the aroma notes, caramel, toffee, peat, tobacco, a hint of brown sugar. Earthy and slightly bitter. Scotch ale with a mild sweet edge.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 3/22/2017. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big nutty dark roasted coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, almonds, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of vanilla, smoke, dark fruit, herbal, wood, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, almonds, dark/brown bread, light vanilla/smoke/char, herbal, wood, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and zero acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Nicely clean lager finish. Slightly increasing dryness from hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Mildly warming alcohol for 9.3%. Overall this is an excellent Baltic porter! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the ABV; with the very mildly bitter/drying finish. Great fruity/nutty coffee presence, well rounded classic porter malt complexity, and mild balancing earthy hops. Never overly roasty, acrid, or drying. I found this to be just a bit on the thin side for the ABV, but nothing to really complain about. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours translucent copper tinged gold with a transient white head. Aroma is somewhat pungently sour, reflecting something like sherry from a solera - barring the sour aspect. Med body or so. Flavor is very moderately sour, showing some grape/wine, some slightly musty wood, and something very sherry. Quite an accessible sour; pleasing.

Medium brown, thin head. On the nose, it smells kind of sour, touch of chocolate, wouldn't say that this is appetizing. Bitter, toasted, kind of harsh burnt sugars. Lacks refinement. This is a bit harsh and unbalanced.
