About
For nearly twenty five years, our mission here at Smuttynose has remained the same: to brew the best beer we can in a way we can be proud of. That includes honoring New England’s rich beermaking history, respecting our environment, and playing an active role in our community.

We value creativity, quality, authenticity and sustainability, but it really boils down to making great beers to enjoy with friends and family. We hope you love drinking our beers as much as we love brewing them. Cheers!

From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours amber with very limited white foam. Aroma is very liquor-like, alcoholic, and apple. Body is dense and with some astringency. Taste is wonderful, with fruity sweetness, like plums, little cherries, apple liquor. Finish is long and very pleasant.

12oz bottle. Thick dark brown with a good tan head. Chocolate and coffee aromas, flavour is very much the same with some vanilla and leather thrown in. Thick, oily mouth feel. Very good

12oz bottle. This shows me a clear Amber color with nearly no head. Aroma of fruity hops, grains, with sweet caramel/ toffee malts. Sweet malt flavors, caramel and toffee, with slightly fruity hop finish. Mild lager yeast lingers. Exactly as it should be for the style. Brewed well, just hard for me to get excited about this style.

12 oz. can. Aroma is mild grass clippings mixed with citrus. Zeus and Saphir are not hop varieties I know much about but... The flavor is citrus upfront with a mildly grassy finish. Body is on the lighter end of the spectrum. The texture is slick with bitter on the lower side.

Overall, another very serviceable IPA from the folks at Smutty. This would be the proverbial Lawnmower IPA.

Can from Whole Foods Bedford Slightly hazy medium golden color with a decent sized tightly bubbled white head that shows moderate retention. Initially the nose held lots of citrus and tropical fruits but that slowly gave way to more resinous earthy pine and a touch of alcohol with some faint bready malt deep underneath. Flavor holds a bit of alcohol especially as she warms but also is filled with light citrus and moderate earth and pine. slight warming alcohol increases as the sample warms. Tasty beer but it eventually shows its abv.

Bottle from the mixed pack at Hannaford. Slightly hazy deep golden color with a thin but long lasting tightly bubbled off white head that persists. Rich bready toasty maltiness with bits of floral hop on the nose. Flavor is rich and malty with a touch of melanoidin. Faint fruit and sulfur but an otherwise great attempt at a classic German style.

Can from Taniguchi. A Berliner Wheat Ale Brewers with peaches according to the cab. A lovely orange gold color with a fizzy white head.tart with a lactic peach cobbler-sequel aroma. It is thin bodied with cardboard and tangy peach plus creamy wheat notes. Mostly acidic peach yoghurt in the finish though. Pretty good.

(Bottle) Hazy amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, spicy nose with dried fruit, pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, toffee and rye bread. Malty, spicy taste with notes of dried fruit, spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, clove), honey, toast, herbal hints of oregano and a balanced spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, mainly dry. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice.
