Heretic Brewing Company
Microbrewery
in Fairfield,
California,
United States 🇺🇸
Associated Venue: Heretic Brewing Company
Established in 2011
We started by sharing a building with another brewery in 2011, but we always brewed our beer ourselves. Within the first six months we realized there wasn’t enough space for two breweries in one building, so we began the search for a new place. By 2013, we had built a new, modern brewery in the wonderful city of Fairfield, California and moved all our operations there, including our new distillery.

16oz can from Hops & Bottles. Pours out looking like orange juice. Aroma is light orange and tangerine. Taste is also citrusy, more peel than fruit. Very subdued and easy on the palate. Nice weight and feel.

Can from HavnensVin&Tobak. Pours opaque black with huge light brown head. Aroma is rotated malt, espresso, malt whisky, vanilla, (salty) caramel, fudge and hints of cream. Taste is very sweet, faint bitter, faint acidic and faint salty. Body is milky with fizzy carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes of caramel, fudge, coffee, vanilla, whisky and lemonish acidity from the carbonation, which is too high for my taste.

very dry a bit of dry dog food and chocolate nose. Decent roastiness but lacks a bit of tartness which I like. Nice raisins and cherry character. As it warmed I liked it more. Decent stuff

Pint can pours with a somewhat hazy gold colored body that has thin copper hues and supports a thin white head of foam. The aroma is punctuated with boozy peach, pineapple and then more booze mixed with pine and floral hops. The taste delivers a pleasing yet boozy blend of booze, peach, apricot and then some pineapple and mango. To aid the booze in this seemingly overly sweet fruitiness a firm layer of bitter floral and bitter pine hops intercede in the experience. This all adds up into being a nice boozy hoppy sipper. I like it as it provides both depth and balance.

440ml can from the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear, almost black colour with a big, mostly lasting, frothy tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, caramel, chocolate and vanilla. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a rich, roasty, sweet caramel, chocolate, coffee, vanilla lactose palate and a oily mouthfeel. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation. Tasty! Sweet, but not sickly.

Clearing orange pour. Thought was buying regular barley wine. I need to look at labels closer. Nose is cookies and some dark fruits. Tastes of rich chocolate chip cookie, plum, figs, some cherry. Smooth palate. Too sweet for me. Not sure why add cookie to an already sweet style.
