Heretic Brewing Company
Microbrewery
in Fairfield,
California,
United States 🇺🇸
Associated Venue: Heretic Brewing Company
Established in 2011
We started by sharing a building with another brewery in 2011, but we always brewed our beer ourselves. Within the first six months we realized there wasn’t enough space for two breweries in one building, so we began the search for a new place. By 2013, we had built a new, modern brewery in the wonderful city of Fairfield, California and moved all our operations there, including our new distillery.

On tap at Lake Tahoe Aleworx, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of citrus skins, alcohol and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is citrusy and dull, with citrus skins, biscuity malt and some alcohol. Keg seems old — maybe this is a function of the establishment serving this ? Dull and lifeless.

I really thought I rated this one before. Big pounder can from my daughter's fridge in Cary. Snuck it from a 4 pack. Smell is mild chocolate. Look is big and nearly black. Taste makes me think of nutella with a little alky kick, mid you, I'm not a filbert nutella fan. Getting some burnt campfire wood down inside of this stuff. A little bit of astingent bitter bite starts to rise up in the middle of the can. Though I think nutella, I can't really pick out true filberts in this, iits more sweet of sorta. Can't really detect lots of alky in this till a little euphoria sets in at the end. Not bad overall but I probably would drink another can of this, its a little cloying and sticky on the finish and the carbonation diminishes in conclusion. Only thing that resembles porter is the slight burnt wet damp old campfire feeling you get deep down inside once past the nutella thing.

Can ordered from Malt Miller, Swindon. Aroma combines sweet sour edged tangerine with a sugary yeastie streak. Light opaque orange-gold. Foamy translucent white head soon fades away. Tart citrus. Spice. Bitter streak. Grainy. Lacks the sweetness I was preempting but is juicy nonetheless. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Enjoyable crisp juicy stuff.

Can ordered from Malt Miller, Swindon. Aroma is sweet and creamy - hazelnut and chocolate = praline. Dark and glossy. Foamy beige head. Medium bitter. Chocolate and coffee with a nutty streak. Bitterness amps up into the finish with a hint of dark berries. Peripheral burnt caramel throughout. Light-medium bodied. Thin but creamy. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry finish. Nutty, man.
