Bottle. Sweet liquorice aroma. Almost black colour. Very small head. Quite sweet flavour, a lot of liquorice here too. Low bitterness. Maybe a bit too sweet, but quite nice.

Deep brown, generous tan head.Strong metallic nose, not much else. Flavor is sickeningly sweet and sugary, light coffee. The overabundant sweetness makes it seem flat.

Bottled. Black opaque colour, brown foamy head. Chocolate and toffee in aroma along with roasted malt. Flavour is very roasted and bitter with hints of dark chocolate. Smoothens up a lot as it gets warmer. Some weird sweet flavour is also present.

Bottled (BB 10/2005)
Very dark ruby, creamy expresso head. Burnt malt aroma, slightly sugary - a bit similar to Zywiec Porter. Medium-bodied. Cold coffee, salted licorice powder. Soft palate - hides alcohol very well (actually some kick from alcohol would do good), good malty base but hop profile is weak. Far from complex and interesting Zywiec.

2004 bottle shared with bucknaked on 4/30/2005. MIBRomeo is right on, the dark brown body has a shiny copper/penny-colored hue to it. Beige head is quickly receding to ring. Smells of sticky molasses, brown sugar, toffee, very straightforward baltic porter aroma. Would appreciate some lager yeast qualities, but as this is quite filtered and most assuredly pasteurised, I’m not surprised at the cleanliness. Flavor is quite sweet, more molasses, brown sugar and caramel/toffee. Cane sugary finish, maybe a touch of dry anise. Bits of cappucino stick out here and there. Boring, unsubstantial mouthfeel shows the high filtration and forced carbonation. Very sweet, medium body. Hides the alcohol VERY well, I will say that.

(Bottle 50 cl) Very dark, almost black with a light brown head from the dark malts. Very sweet (sweetened?) almost vinous in the direction of portwine. Somehow reminds me of dark Trappists (yes, really...) just not quite as complex in the flavour pattern. Not much bitterness. For a beer this strong it goes down scaringly easy, you don’t really sense the alcohol. A pleasant surprise. 110704

Bottle Pours a dark but not opaque brown with a foamy light tan head and spotty lacing. Aroma is terrific. Chocolatey and dark roasted wioth some licorice and a touch of smoke. Flaovors, are of cocolate, brown sugar, caramel, and maybe a touch of maple syrup. Feel was a bit thinner than I was hoping and there was a slight bitter smokey trailer. Quite good! Thanks to Buck Dich for sharing this one.

Semi-transparent brown in color - moderate lacing - nose and flavor are dominated by brown sugar and molassas - flavor also produces notes of over-sweetened, black coffee and a touch of chocolate - this tastes as if it’s been lagered, which doesn’t really have to be a bad thing, I guess - pretty flavorful, but a bit thin for the style - worth a try.

A dark amber beer with a fine beige head though disappearing. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel and straw. The flavor is sweet too with notes of cinnamon, caramel - to end on a slight sour note. It is way too sweet for a Porter - even though it holds 9.4% ABV. Thanks to Per (omhper) for trading this with me.
