330ml bottle: BBD 31st Jan 15. Poured into a Gordon badged thistle shaped glass at home on 5th Sep 14. Found the bottle on a Caribbean island, Barbados maybe? Pours a lovely true black colour, the thick foaming tanned head looked great in the top of the thistle glass and gave off some impressive lacing. Coffee and dark chocolate in the nose and taste, slightly burnt maltiness oozes out of the brew giving the whole beer a mild peatbog sort of flavouring. A damn good Stout, pity it is rarely seen in the UK.

On Tap @ "Committee Room No. 9" in Glasgow. Awful corn aroma. Sweetish with a strange undertone... Not nice. The aftertaste is smooth, sweetish, watery and lots of corn.... nothing great....

330 ml bottle. Copper color topped by a small brief white head. Earthy woody malt nose. Moth toasted malt flavor has light smoky oak notes. Thin body an English Strong Ale. Toffee finish has whiskey-like notes. Just average.

Keg at Berts Bar.... It pours clear amber with a thick, creamy white head. The nose is toasty grain, cereal and generic maltiness. The taste is creamy, lightly toasted grain, touch sweetness, cereal and really not much else. Short finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Looks good, but rather bland indeed. Inoffensive.

Bottle. Copper with an off white head that fades to the rim fast. Toasty aroma with toffee, biscuit and (erm) pear drops. Lowish carbonation, not much body. Sweet toffee and prune juice, hints of spices. Boozy, but not really hot. Empty and dullish, but not terrible and certainly not check-your-eyesight bad.
