Crooked Stave Brewing Company is an artisan microbrewery in Denver, Colorado. It was founded by beer lover and beer brewer Chad Yakobson. The establishment of Crooked Stave was the result of Chad’s years of travel and studies about beer brewing abroad. Crooked Stave brewery is known for their brewing specialty in Brettanomyces fermentations and barrel-aged sour and wild ales. Crooked Stave Brewing Company is home to some of the finest sour beers. Some of its remarkable beers are the Crooked Stave Surette, Crooked Stave Vieille and Crooked Stave St. Bretta.

At a Beermalade tasting. Rather thin body, med-high carbonation. Medium bitterness, light grainy astringency, light-low sweetness. Mostly malty, medium nutty, light caramelly, hints of fruitiness. Not my favourite, which aint surprising as generally amber beers have to do something different to be such. This one does not.

On tap at Craft & Carry UWS, pours a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma is full of tart blueberry and raspberry skins, wild yeast, and some subtle grape skins. Flavour has a nice blueberry skin character, light raspberry skins, and musty wild yeast. A bit jumbled but its alright.

Clear blond colour with lasting soapy head. Starts light with some tropical fruit notes. Becomes more floral and slightly resinous in the finish.

On tap at The Greats of Craft NYC, pours a clear pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma smells like one of those Hair of the Dog concrete egg scents, with biscuity malt, and straw. Flavour is sharp, with somewhat metallic notes, biscuity malt, and straw. Crisp bitterness from the hops on the finish. Weird expression that I cant quite put my finger on.

Can. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma laces. Aroma has pine and melon with a bit of grass and some light rind underlying. Flavor starts with melon and light onion and has growing citrus and rind notes.

Can (from Beer Republic). Yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is mango and basil with some citrus tones too. Flavour is citrus, strong basil, mild mango with some wooden and mildly tart tones too. Refreshing. Basil gives it a nice twist.
