Description
Crooked Stave Brewing Company is an artisan microbrewery in Denver, Colorado. It was founded by beer lover and beer brewer Chad Yakobson. The establishment of Crooked Stave was the result of Chad’s years of travel and studies about beer brewing abroad. His study of Master of Science in Brewing and Distilling at a university in Scotland gave him the expertise to set up his own brewery. Crooked Stave brewery is known for their brewing specialty in Brettanomyces fermentations and barrel-aged sour and wild ales. Crooked Stave Brewing Company is home to some of the finest sour beers. Some of its remarkable beers are the Crooked Stave Surette, Crooked Stave Vieille and Crooked Stave St. Bretta.

(Bottle) Orangey golden colour, slightly hazy, with foamy off-white head. Fruity, funky nose with peaches, apricots, oak wood, herbs, citrus and a touch of vinegar. Fruity, tart taste with peaches, apricots, blood orange, grapefruit, oak wood and funky yeast. Generous acidity. No bitterness. Medium body, mainly dry. Tart, fruity and woody. Very nice.

On draught at Gaslight Social Club in Casper.
Pours straw gold, finger of foam, very good retention and lacing. This place also uses a nitro mix.
Smell is hoppy tropical fruity bitterness, something unusual in there. Can't put my finger on it.
Taste is tropical fruit, dry hopped bitterness, hints of relation to a German Pilsner but deviates, imho, by quite a bit. Might be picking up some lemon.
Mouthfeel is fine, I would drink this again.

Can to becher glass.
Appearance: light copper to yellow color with a sly transparency about it; finger's worth of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: clean malts - somewhat like corn sweet-ish, maybe something cracker-like tones; faint citrusy hops - light lime and/or lemon-ish
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas somewhat sweetly; finishes the same way
Texture: light bodied; sessionable; pretty smooth along the tongue
Overall: I can see it as a Mexican lager - I guess that's what Crooked Stave was going for with this.

Can to becher glass.
Appearance: copper color with a slight transparency about it; one finger white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: grassy to citrusy to piney and subtle earthy hops; light clean malts
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas to a fine semi-sweet to subtle bitter character; finishes semi-earthy to citrusy
Texture: light to medium bodied; somewhat sessionable; light smoothness but also some hop assertiveness
Overall: mostly a nice easy going IPA worthy of coming back to.
