About
Crooked Stave Brewing Company is an artisan microbrewery in Denver, Colorado. It was founded by beer lover and beer brewer Chad Yakobson. The establishment of Crooked Stave was the result of Chad’s years of travel and studies about beer brewing abroad. His study of Master of Science in Brewing and Distilling at a university in Scotland gave him the expertise to set up his own brewery. Crooked Stave brewery is known for their brewing specialty in Brettanomyces fermentations and barrel-aged sour and wild ales. Crooked Stave Brewing Company is home to some of the finest sour beers. Some of its remarkable beers are the Crooked Stave Surette, Crooked Stave Vieille and Crooked Stave St. Bretta.

Light grapefruit, tastes like Nelson. Golden pour with decent head. Cris finish with a little lime. Nice. Growler pour.

Bottle, huge thanks to the one and only Vojta L. for sharing this! Murky red-amber body. Big aroma, pleasant oakiness, raisins, light funk. Tart taste, pleasant woody touches, funk, dried aprocots, mildly earthy, some sourness bite, blueberries, vague alcohol. Lovely stuff, apart from a dry funky touch in the aftertaste that's kinda getting in the way. Really glad to have tried it!

pint can. Clear copper colored pour with a lasting off-white head. The aroma is mildly spicy with straw , herbs and a bit wet earth. The taste is lightly hoped breads, caramel and some rye. The palate is medium in viscosity and crisp. Finishes long and a bit sticky. Overall: Decent Marzen.

3 week old can A: Lightly hazed pale gold with a small, fast falling white head. S: Bright aroma heavy on peaches with citrus zest and wafer cookies projected from the glass. T: Fairly high sweetness is balanced by stone fruit and pineapple notes, then citrus pith and wood toward the end. M: Soft carbonation and medium light body. Slightly feathery texture. O: Pretty good though it looks and sort of drinks more like a hazy than a westy. Also a bit more peach and sweetness than I prefer.

Pour is a hazy blonde with almost no head at all. Aroma is green apple and green grapes with a little white wine. Flavor is a super dry and tart vinous white grape and finishes chardonnay buttery. Equal parts saison and white wine.

Can. Pours clear golden yellow, medium creamy white head, good lacing. Aroma is grains, hint of pepper, grass. Flavor is light sweet, medium bitter. Light body. Nice.
